Is anyone familiar with the night blooming cirrus?  |

 I think thats how you spell cirrus! LOL! my mom gave me 'this plant', 3 simple plain leaves about 5 inches long. it didnt do much until i set it in the window and it took off growing like crazy! this plant is a monster now, its huge!! i've been told that they are supposed to bloom at night but i've yet to see it do anything much outside of its growth spurts! Does it really bloom at night? What can you tell me about this plant? i'm clueless! LOL

2.  Willowlady (8982) | 7 months ago |  Hi there, I have always wanted a plant such as this. Alas, I grow moonflowers. It is worth growing, though it does not look like a great plant. Which one did you get? There are two, Selenicereus and the Hylocereus genus. You shouldn't have to wait up too long to see it since it blooms late evening, normally by midnight

Being a prolific growing plant it is normally passed along and you are free to contact me to arrange a pass along! Being a cactus be careful of it sitting in any clay soil or water holding area. I would grow it as a houseplant and let it have a summer vacation outdoors. Just depends on where you live.
Each bloom will last only one night and you will have to watch the bud develop so you could catch the display. Will open over a couple of hours.
I hope you enjoy this plant and see it for many a year put on it's display.

| 4pawsx4 (712) | 7 months ago | you know, i've never ever seen my cirrus bloom! i've had it for a few years now and all it does is get new leaves on it. my mom gave it to me a long time ago, giving me only 3-4 leaves in dirt that were about 5 inches high. i wasnt impressed with it so i just shoved it in the window. that thing took off like a shot and is now about, well, if i extend the leaves from left to right, its about 7 feet wide. i've had to hang it from the ceiling its so huge! it looks 'different' from most plants which i like! but, i dont know what to do to get it to bloom. i'm not even for certain that mine even is supposed to! | |

3.  oyenkai (3284) | 7 months ago |  I've never heard of it. I only know one plant that blooms on a specified hour "alas diyes" is what we call it. It literally means 10 O'Clock. That's because the flowers bloom around 10am and 10pm. It's a pretty garden flower and it's very easy to maintain.
