Things might just work out for me this time.

Things are looking up for me for once. I'm working on a business plan to get a farm going, and it's been about 12 years in the making. After going to New York State last week, it imprinted in my brain, the idea that I really want to, no, NEED to get out of the city for good. The air is much cleaner, it will be much healthier for myself and my husband. So now I'm working on this plan, doing research on expenses and income projections for my business. It's been hard work the last couple of years. I've been writing a lot down over time for how much things will cost, and possible income depending on what kinds of services I offer. I keep getting more ideas, and am expanding even further on my previous ideas. And man, I really have a lot of ideas. They will make or break my business. In my travels through New York State last week, I found a few businesses and farms utilizing wind power, and it further burned the idea of using wind power on my own farm. I also will use solar. I want solar hot water heaters, and solar heating for the barns, cabins and home. I want to use green, renewable energy to run my entire farm. This is a huge task, but you know what? I'm prepared to go for it. In the long run it would save me a lot of money, and it would lower the cost of services for my clients. It would be a win-win situation for all. I'm working on getting both government and private funding for this venture, and the call I received just a short time ago has brought me one step closer to having my dream come true. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this works out for me, it's about time that something went right in my life besides getting married. This plan is not easy, after all, I've been trying to work on it for about 12 years. I saw myself 5 years later actually running my business, but it clearly didn't happen. Now I have a true opportunity to get this going into something real, and I'm taking it as far as I need to go with it to accomplish my goal and dream. I'll provide some updates as I get them.

That is awesome! It is always great seeing your dreams have the possibility of coming true! I hope it all works out for you. Farming is a lot of hard work, but it can be very rewarding. I agree with you that getting out of the city is definitley good for your health. I have never lived in a city - except for a 3 month stint in Florence, Italy as a study abroad program. I just dont understand how people can do it. I would go crazy. Good luck!

Thanks. I can't wait to get out, I know we'll feel much better. I'll have lots of help on my farm, so I'm not worried about it being hard work.
