The Titanic International Society says Millvina Dean, the last survivor of the sinking of the Titanic, has died.
The society's president, Charles Haas said that Dean died Sunday at age 97. He said she was suffering from pneumonia and her companion, Bruno Nordmanis, had called the Swiss branch of the society to say she had passed away.
Dean was just over two months old when the Titanic hit an iceberg on the night of April 14, 1912, sinking less than three hours later.
She was cared for at a nursing home in southern England. A staff nurse said no one could comment until administrators came on duty Monday.
Titanic stars Leonardo diCaprio and Kate Winslet donated money this month to help pay Dean's nursing home fees.

I feel so sorry for all of those people and what they had to go through and the ones that loist their lives. That would be so scary in the middle of the ocean like that and frigid water at that.

I wonder if she ever got to see the movie and what she thought of it. It was a shame she had to sell her last momentoes of her Titanic voyage as it mentions in the video--

This must be a big thing for Kate and Leonardo to handle especially being the last to survive. I wouldn't like to be a TITANIC survivor myself or not for this long.

Ninety-seven is a fine old age indeed and I think it is noteworthy that the movie stars donated money to pay Ms Dean's nursing home expenses,may she rest in peace. We will probably continue to hear more about the Titanic itself but this is indeed an end to the story of her sinking. Blessing
