| | | 2. firstcontact1990 (977) | 7 months ago | I agree they're not the greatest. Don't get me wrong, the Hardcore Zep fans, and all respect due to Jimmy page, Robert Plant, John Paul jones and John Bonham but Led Zep isnt the greatest.
Firstly,
Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, Angus Young, Tony Iommi, brian May, Adrian Vandenburg and David Gilmour are better than Jimmy Page.....
David Coverdale (certainly), Freddie Mercury, Ian Gillan, Blackie Lawless, Klaus Mein are all better than Robert Plant...
Roger Glover and Geezer Butler are better than John Paul Jones on Bass (although he is good)
and Im not going for the sympathy vote because John Bonham has passed away, and yeah he was really good as is his son jason but, Cozy Powel for example, and Ian Paice are better Drummers.
Dont get me wrong Zep are great, but Deep Purple, The Who, AC/DC, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Dio/Rainbow, are all better. And Page is knowhere near as good as Jimi Hendrix or Ritchie Blackmore....
The only reason these guys are held in high regard is the name Led Zeppelin... | |

 mikedotcom (197) | 5 months ago |  Angus? r u kidding? Jimmy could outplay that 3 chord muck with two broken fingers! Hey, I like AC/DC alot (they rock!), but they are just a bar band (even by their own admission) and will forever be stuck there. You obviously have not seen Jimmy play, or really listened. His playing is so much deeper than Angus, and his use of alt tunings shows he is a master at the instrument (like a few others you mentioned). Angus rocks-no doubt, but Angus plays the same style and scales he did in the 70's and has no variety whatsoever. Futhermore, Jimmy is so much better as a composer of music and it is clear he understands the theory of the art much more than Angus. Led Zeppelin is the best!
