She never tripped over toys or forgot words to lullabies

She didn't worry whether or not her plants were poisonous
She never thought about immunizations.

She had never been puked on
Pooped on
Spit on
Chewed on
Or pinched by tiny fingers

Before She was a Mom
She had complete control of her thoughts
Her body and her mind
She slept all night

Before She was a Mom
She never held down a screaming child
So that doctors could do tests
Or give shots.

Before She was a Mom
She never looked into teary eyes and cried
She never got gloriously happy over a simple grin
She never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

She never held a sleeping baby just because She didn't want to put it down
She never felt her heart break into a million pieces
She never knew that something so small
Could alter her life so much
She never knew that She could love someone so much
She never knew she would love being a Mom

She didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby
She didn't know that bond between a Mother and her child
She didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important

She had never gotten up in the middle of the night
Every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay

The joy
