I agree, as you said Dr. Tiller had been somewhat famous in some circles, or "infamous" if you prefer. He was made that way by the radical anti-choice extremists, some of whom went so far as to put his home address and the address of his CHURCH online. I respect that many people disagree with what he did but the fact is he was a civilian and he was doing something that is still legal in this country. He was in church acting as an usher when he was gunned down, unarmed obviously. I think any "bias" in reporting was more because of the facts the victim was nationally known, the issue is a very controversial one and because of the reaction from some on the far right. For those reasons this story unfortunately seemed to overshadow the equally tragic story of the young soldier being killed by another domestic terrorist. I wrote "another" because both of the murderers are also terrorists in my opinion. I suppose that since OBVIOUSLY no one would go on TV and defend the murderer of the soldier that kind of automatically gave about twice the coverage to the doctor's murder. When they're something dealing with an issue like abortion and confirmation hearings for a new Supreme Court Justice are coming up very soon added to the fact that there were spokespersons for various anti-abortion organizations making statements which, of course, had to be discussed by the media because that's what they do, it made for a huge story. Plus, since the murder victim was being vilified and some were saying he got what he deserved it stands to reason there would be people who actually knew and cared for him who would want to have their say.

You have nothing to fear, Rose; the "Black Muslim" will get much worse treatment by the press in the long run.

I'm assuming you're asking me to post links of the reports on "liberal media" about the soldier shooting? (Nice job of getting the "black Muslim dude" reference in again!) Sorry, it was all over the place and I don't have time for such nonsense. They reported it and I admit it was overshadowed by the murder of a doctor while he was worshiping in his church, possibly because the doctor had done something that was LEGAL but that some people disapprove of to the point of advocating or carrying out violence. There was not a single person I saw anywhere who condoned or came close to condoning what the killer of that young soldier did. If there had been that would have been just as widely reported as those who justified Dr. Tiller's cold-blooded murder. This act of terrorism succeeded in instilling fear and terror in the hearts of innocent civilians; this time not only those who may work at a woman's health clinic that provides abortion or abortion counseling or those who went to these places for their services but also anyone, anywhere including in their church on Sunday morning.

You're certainly greatly exaggerating that point but, as right-wing anti-abortion extremist and head of Operation Rescue Randall Terry said, "You reap what you sow". Do people in the media who continually harp on someone, calling them something like "Tiller the killer" bear some of the responsibility when something tragic like this happens? I guess that is subject to debate. I think Scott Roeder was planning this murder for a long time and I really doubt that O'Reilly had any part in it. However, do you doubt there are many other Scott Roeder's out there who haven't acted yet but are so close to the edge it won't take much for someone to push them over? If you have ANY belief, as Bill O'Reilly and Glenn Beck have said they do, that what one sees in the media can influence their actions negatively you can't deny the words that O'Reilly said about Tiller over and over could have that affect on some extremist who is watching.

you happy now kennyrose? just because you were too lazy to search for information besides worldnetdaily, and anniepa shouldn't have to because she knows what she heard on the t.v, i myself do not watch much t.v but just to show you once again that you are not always right look at those links, see its cnn and msnbc posting articles about the story, so yes the liberals do care after all.....and will you see that nowhere does a respectful reporter have to point out that he is black, you can deny that you are a racist all you want, but your words tell a different story

I think in the killer's mind it was not a race thing at all, and he would just have easily killed black American soldiers too, just because they were American soldiers. I agree that we shouldn't always look at issues as black vs. white. But the media is very biased. The important thing is not that the killer was black and the victim was white, but the fact that if it had been reversed the media would have made a big deal about the white guy being racist, but because the murderer was black, they don't call him a racist. It should work both ways or not at all. Similar to Sotomayor saying that Hispanic Mexican women are better than white men. If it was reversed, the white man would have been called a racist for saying such things.

It wasn't the media, at least none of the media I saw reporting this incident, who were pointing out that the gunman was black, it was Rose the OP of this discussion. She's not a racist yet she seems to spend a good bit of time discerning what race anyone who does something wrong happens to be.
