| Doing your own oil change | | | | One way to save money is to do your own oil change. This is something that I've been doing for years. I usually do my own oil changes in the spring and summer months, during fall and winter it's too cold so I take the car in to a shop. Today I went into Autozone to get the oil filter and oil and I noticed they started carrying their own store brand of oil and it's a lot cheaper. I figured I'd give it a shot if I don't like it's only 3,000 miles until I do another oil change. If anyone else changes their own oil what oil do you use and recommend? Have you tried autozones brand before? | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

| | I don't change the oil myself, but a friend of ours does it in exchange for dinner. He changes my oil and I feed him, I think it is a fair exchange. It saves me money and he gets a home cooked meal which is something he does not get a lot of. I am not sure what kind of oil he uses when he does it, but it is about time I get it done again. | | | | | | | barrudaki (1332)

| | I use to have a friend of mine do my oil changes too. I would pay him a 6 pack and I would buy the stuff to do the oil change. He eventually showed me how to do my own oil change, its easy enough and it saves money, plus you know it's been done. | | | | | | | Fumoto™ Oil Drain Valves Fumoto Valves at Discounted Prices. | | I have always done my own oil changes and most repairs. My dad was a mechanic and made me learn alot about my first car. If I'm not sure I'm lucky to have a cousin who is a very trustworthy mechanic. I go to advanced instead of autozone. It's closer and most of the guys there know me and don't act like I don't know what I'm talking about. I don't really have a preference of oil filter, but I always use a namebrand oil 10W30 or 10W40. Depends on which is on sale. I do buy store brand for my mowers and small stuff. | | | | | | | | | | Young Living Oils Highest Quality Essential Oils & Products YoungLiving.org/Oils4Wellness | add comment | | | |

| | We do our own oil changes unless it is my car. My car can go 5000 miles on an oil change so it isnt that big of a deal but it is so low to the ground its hard to get under. I dont have a pit to change them in so I just pay people who do. The other cars are 4 wheel drive and high enough off the ground to roll under nad get it done. For the cost of one trip to jiffy lube we can do two cars and use the good oil and filters as well. I usualy only buy fram filters, and valvoline is my preferred oil but I have bought other brands of oil and not noticed a difference. | | | | | | | | | | Local Crude Oil Prices Find Crude Oil Prices Near You.
