Is Kurt/Nirvana to blame?  | |  1980s and 1990s is a great decades for Rock Music. Many Rock bands was formed during this period. Until between late 80s and early 90s NIRVANA was formed and revolutionized the music scene. Nirvana became one of first of bands who created the alternative rock genre. It was during this time that alternative rock became the dominant genre that rock bands just slowly disappeared in the scene. Although I TOTALLY agree they had A LOT to do with it, there were others too, such as Pearl Jam and Sound Garden as well as Rage Against the Machine and Smashing Pumpkins. But yes, I agree, rock has NEVER been the same since.
