Hot cup of tea cooled me down

Last year a friend of ours was visiting, and we were out at the fair. It was 90 degrees that day, and we were all over heated. We stopped at a coffee stand. Hubby and I got iced coffees to cool off with. My friend got hot coffee. Afterwards she felt better. She said the heat inside your body helps you adjust, inside and out, to the heat in the air. I guess it makes sense!

HI, No, that's the last thing i want when i am hot. I have always herad it would cool u off but i go for my ol' standby, iced tea. that's about all i ever drink but coffe in the morning & sometimes a cup in the afternoon especially when it's cold outside. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND. STILL thinking of u in that freezar. Think u ought to make that into a discussion. It was soooo funny.

Yes, I have. The thing is the hot drink is hotter than the outside temperature and you. When you drink it then you are cooler because the temperature outside or in the room is much cooler than the hot drink is. Therefore the result is you cool down. I hope this made sense, lol.

I normally drink Gatorade because my electolites get off balance drinking and sweating so much. Too much ice water just makes me tired so Gatorade to the rescue.

Well they say that it makes you sweat and that the moisture on your skin actually cools you down....that might be one reason...I am not sure that is true..just something I heard!

I cannot recall ever drinking anything hot to cool myself down before. I don't normally drink much in the way of hot beverages though. I will occasionally drink a cup of hot tea or hot apple cider, but not normally when it is hot out. I drink ice cold drinks most of the time.

yes i do,,some time when i feel so hot a cold drink can't work.when i feel that ussualy i make a cup of tea or other drink that hot.,and it work..my sweat is gone.i think it's a right way to to resolve that.

i don't drink tea but i drink coffee all time and it don't make me hotter like most people think.i believe it does cool me down when i have been outside and come in to get cooled off.

Yup, not only does the hot dirnk make u adjust, but it makes you slighlty warmer s o yo sweat more hence cooling you down. Weird right:P but its all scientifically proven:D

Hi Cynthiann, I always have hot drinks in the heat as it brings my body temperature up higher so I don't feel as hot myself from the outside heat. In winter if you have a cold drink it cools your blood temp down so you don't feel as cold if that makes sense. I guess that is why they eat hot spicy curries in India plus it keeps the meat from going off in the heat too. LOL. Huggles Ellie:D
