Yet for those who have placed their faith in christ, life is not that gloomy. It is still true that following certain practices will not guarantee a particular result. Godly parents have raised prodigal children. Committed christians have contracted incurable diseases. Devout believers have lost all their possessions.
But God does not make this guarantee eventually every thing will turn out all right. He promise all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. That is the best guarantee of all

Jesus always tell us through the bible that we should live by faith and not by sight. There are just so many things that's happening in our life and environment that could easily question our believe in God. But it is not what we were getting outside that's important but what grows inside our hearts, the calmness to face life's trial and problem, the strength to endure the hardship of life, the patience in waiting for something unbelievable to happen, etc. These are only few intangible things that we received and developed because of our faith in God.
About guarantee's, the verse John 3:16 said it all, "whoever believe in the sent Son (which is Jesus) shall inherit eternal life".

I once had a silly prospect who wanted me to guarantee that I won't die and leave their computer system orphaned. He didn't have enough money to bribe the devil not to get me.
