LOL i have just been listening to some old ABBA songs, and i remember years ago when i used to be a massive fan, i even dressed like them, especially the blonde one, my fave song at that time was dancing queen and i used to dance to that song all the time in my bedroom in front of the mirror, when i was out disco-ing it with my friends i always thought that i looked like the blonde one, but i never did, i just thought i did...lol...is there still any ABBA fans out there? what was your favorite song? and did you like to dress like them? just thinking back it makes me laugh because i can see how ridiculous i used to look walking down the street in them silly satin trousers and boots and that woolen knitted skull cap, i even dyed my hair the same just to look like the blonde one...oh those were the days.. blush shocked. lol....now i wouldn't even get close to wearing them tight trousers again....but i still do like to listen to ABBA every now and then, so come on guys fess up, did you try to look like one of the ABBA's when you were younger, where you a big fan, are you still a big fan?

I liked Abba but must say that my favorites are still the REAL oldies, like The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jimi Hendrix, things like that.

I never tried to look like anyone though. The closest I got was getting my hair cut like Twiggy. I'm not sure if you remember her but, being British, I think you might. I loved her haircut way back when. I even went on a local TV show that had dancing and famous live performers (who all lip synched to their songs). That show was taped earlier and played that night so I was able to see myself making a fool out of myself dancing, but my hair looked good! LOL

Oh! The Kirby Scott Show! That was the name of it. I couldn't remember it until it just popped right into the old noggin.

During the late '70s I was busy working and renovating a house and didn't have time to try looking like anyone except an extremely tired working gal. During the '80s, I was too busy with my young family to even THINK of trying to look good! doh

I wish you had a photo of yourself in those satin trousers, boots and woolen skull cap!

i did have pics of me in that "get up" a friend and i used to dress like the girls in abba so we had pics taken but i have no clue where they went, i have moved places vertually all my life so i may have lost them on my travels, of course i know who twiggy is, she was beautiful and still is, she is now a judge in Americas top model and still looks stunning, the hair back then was the pixie look and it is out again now, i see alot of elfin like girls with that style, i love it but i am too fond of my long hair now i don't think i would go short again, i had short hair for a very long time and started to grow it when i saw Abba, i think back then we all had our fashion icons, there was alot of girls walking about trying to look like their fave pop idol, especially ABBA, my fad wore off when i started getting into rock music, i was not familiar with the Beatles even though i come from the same city as them, i was only 1 year old when they became famous, it was only when i relised who they were that they all split up, but i was big into john lennon...still am....

Ah, John Lennon. You know, I came home from my honeymoon in the Caribbean the day that he was shot. What a shock!!! I got home just in time to hear it all over the news and I cried my eyes out! Here he was, just getting his life back together, when he was murdered. It was so unfair! Man, I don't think I had ever cried so hard (well, except for when my father died)!

i think ABBA will always be liked by our generation and this generation, they have always been a fave band of mine, i don't dress like them any more but back then when they were HUGE i saw alot of girls copying their style, i cannot understand why they turned down that deal, for a one night only they will get alot of money, i think it all has to do with when all 4 got divorced, it was a bitter split so i cannot see them actually getting back together...

We used to dance to abba at the school disco's in the dinner time or sometimes after school.the music is just timeless,it will never go out of fashion.I went to see maa mia at the cinema and just loved it all.The music acting, was fantastic.I could listen to Abba all day long.I have a dream is one of my favourites and Dancing queen also they are all brilliant, never got to wear the gear though,to late for those tight pants.

I am too young to have been an ABBA fan in those days, even though I do know their songs and like them a lot. The musical 'mamma mia' that features a lot of their songs is one of my all time favourite movies. I have the musical on DVD and the soundtrack aswell. The music is timeless. I am looking forward to september as this musical will be back on stage in Holland then, yippee!
I never dressed like them though, but that's because like I said, ABBA was a bit before my disco-time rasp.

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 94 out of 9,002 in listening to music  6 months ago

i have not seen mamma mia yet, way back then i was a HUGE fan of ABBA but over the years i have got into different genres of music and abba was left on the back burner, i do at times hear the odd song but i am not much of a fan any more, i am into all different stuff right now but i cannot put my finger on what type i really like

Hi tatt,

Yeah I loved the ABBA too and was a fan, my favourite was "Fernando" but I love all ABBA songs and still do but I've never dressed up like any of the girls, as I was too shy and never really went out much, but ohhh! I bet you look smashing and don't forget it was fashionalbe then so no need to cringe, can you imagine what the kids these would say about themselves in anot 30 or 40 years time with what they are wearing now?, love and hugs.

ABBA will forever be ABBA. I really liked their songs. Especially, Thank you for the music, dancing queen and Fernando. If you will just listen and absorb every notes of their songs, you will know that it touches your very soul. I am just sad that I haven't watched the Mama Mia movie yet. I just hoped that I can still catch the movie in the video shop, in that way I can know the story of ABBA.
