Email......Good or Bad? |
|
Is email a good way for people to communicate? Why or Why not?
I am, at the moment, undecided on this issue. In this fast paced society, it is a quick, easy and effective way of communicating with people all around the world. However, it is also not a very personal way of communication, as emails are often rushed and not a lot of thought is put into them. Sometimes it means a lot more to the receiver when the writer takes the time to compose a hand written letter.
What do you think?

housemd (185) | 7 months ago | Yeah, spam, viruses, etc. are a common part of using the internet and email, and are very irritating. And yes, the rate at which our society is progressing is a scary though. If we keep progressing at this rate, where will we be in 50 or 100 years. It's a crazy thought. Thanks for your response:)

3. KATRINKA (1038) | 7 months ago | The art of letter writing has been lost with the invention of email. I remember when I was in junior high school, we signed up for foreign penpals. Mine was from Greece. It was exciting to wait for a letter from so far away, to see the pretty stamps and different handwriting. I'd spend hours trying to compose the perfect missives to my foreign friend. Email takes away the agonizing wait for a reply to a letter, and now it's not unusual to have email penpals from all over the world. Email provides almost instant gratification, and like you said, sometimes emails are rushed or not composed very well. On the other hand, if you need a quick response, email is very convenient. I'm not a very good email correspondent. I don't always answer my emails promptly. I text more than I email.

housemd (185) | 7 months ago | I like the way you put this: "The art of letter writing has been lost with the invention of email." So true. I definitely agree with you though that it eliminates the long, frustrating wait for a reply. Good point. Thanks for your response:)

4. Jakker27 (3910) | 7 months ago | email is the best way to communited by 'mail' absolutely. No question.
Regular post can be stolen, delivered to the wrong address, can be slow
Email is fast, will always go where you want it providing you type in the right email address to send too
However with all posts in email, if you leave all emails in inbox then if your hacked, you instantly become vunerable
So always protect your password....
Look it may not be personal though there is always a work around. Let me give you an example.
Say I want to make it more personal. I write a letter. I scan the letter. I open email and attach letter and then boom! A letter written by you, sent as an attachment by email
It's also (email) good if your a messy writer and for me personally, I'm a better typer then a writer though some might be vise versa.
I think at the end of the day, when we think about how we want to do it - then it's possible;)
Goodluck

5. harryt123 (326) | 7 months ago | I believe that email is actually a good way to communicate for most people as we have busy lifestyles and always being on the go. This is actually a pro and a con, a pro would be that it helps us keep in touch with friends and family that we most likely wouldn't be able to do either they are also busy or on the other side of the world. But the con that I believe is keeping us behind and might hurt us is that we rely on emails to communicate that we tend to put aside our social skills of picking up the phone or even speaking face to face.

housemd (185) | 7 months ago | I didn't even think about how it has replaced something as simple as a phone conversation. But I agree that it is effective in a hectic and rushed lifestyle is, as it is important to stay in touch with family and friends, people you might lose touch with due to a lack of time if it wasn't for email. This is a very good point. Thank you for your response:)

6. aizen18 (100) | 7 months ago | Email is good because you can communicate with your friends, relative, and special someone even though your miles apart.
It may be bad because there are spams, chain letters, and offensive materials that overwhelm the quantity of positive emails.

| 7. drorocks (15) | 7 months ago | I myself think Email is perfect, Its pretty easy to send stuff to family members that might not be near you like pictures, videos and more. Definitely a great tool and the best part is that it gets to the other side within seconds, definitely a time saver.
Emails are awesome. Of coarse there are disadvantages but everything in live is not just plain easy so I'm sure I can live with those.

8. onlinerep01 (419) | 7 months ago | Hello, I think that communicating through email, is a great thing. In fact I have a group on Yahoo Groups, and what I encouraged my members to do is write a email toanother member in the group to keep in touch with them, kind of like email pals instead of pen pals. The members of the group were very excited about this idea, this was somthing that I have started a few months ago, and there are still members participating in the email pals writting. If you really look at it by sending letters through email it could save you a lot of money. I always encourage people not to write anything in a email, or online for that matter that they don't want others to see, because of all the internet scammers out there, nothing is confidential 100%. Happy My Lotting!

housemd (185) | 7 months ago | Hey thats a great idea. I would imagine that one would get the same enjoyment out of an email-pal as they would a pen-pal. Just without the long wait in between sending and receiving. And good point about not interrupting someone when they're busy. Thanks:)

9. kellys3ps (3603) | 7 months ago | I absolutely love using email to communicate. I can do it whenever I want (even when my kiddos are screaming in the background), and it is much quicker than calling someone else. I also love the fact that I am not interuppting someone's day.

housemd (185) | 7 months ago | Gah! sorry, I said this to the response above, but it was your point. The fact that email doesn't interrupt someone when they're busy is definitely a really good thing about email. Thanks for the response:)
