Do any mylotters have a Scottish Fold Cat?  

Thank you for all the information. I would never breed any cat I had, I would have all my pets spade or neutered.

I do think that the Lilac Scottish Fold Cat in the picture is adorable. If I owned him, I would treasure him, I know, but owning a cat is different from breeding them for show. Any cat, whatever his shortcomings and disabilities, is a companion and a friend. My brother's cats, for example, write poetry and help him with his financial concerns (as he frequently tells us).

RE: more subject to ear diseases and infections That's sad, is that due to the breeding? I've heard about some species of cats and dogs having such problems because of the continual breeding.

Apparently the same gene that produces the folded ears also makes them have a predisposition to those diseases, so, yes you could say that it's to do with breeding but really it's to do with the mutation of a particular gene.

Interesting topic isn't it? If you are interested in the book it is called The Cat Who Went To Paris. It is a very informative book as well as entertaining because the cat (NORTON) always drew so much attention and actually was treated like royalty.

Hey Alice, LOL No the cat was not named after Norton anti virus. Actually the owner was a fan of the tv program The Honeymooners say that is how the cat got the name Norton.

You should really find the book "The Cat W."ho Went To Paris." Ya, I know, it sounds like a little kids book bit its not. It is very informative about travel and different areas of the world where Norton got to go.

Norton was named after the character of The Honeymooners. There are alot of folks who are alergic to cats and alot more that claim to be so I really do not think we need to really worry about seeing one in a restaurant.

Sometimes I will fold Ciny Lous ears like that when she jumps up on my lap and say, "Oh look its a scotish fold" So she wrinkles her nose and shakes her head. I don't think she finds it funny. They are cute but so are my two.
