|  fathers day, its coming up rather quickly. What are you going to do on that day? me personally, i will go to the cemetery as i have the past 20 years to go visit my dad. what are your plans? going to spend the day with dad? going to chill out? share your plans with me!!

| |  I will also be going to the cemetery for the first time this year. Sadly, we lost my dad last September. We have already had to endure Christmas and his birthday (April) without him. It is sure tough but I feel closest to him when I visit the cemetery and put flower on his grave. The cemetery is beautiful and peaceful. It will be a day of reflection and remembrance to honor my wonderful father.

| |  May your dad rest in peace. And may your family find peace within your hearts for the temporary loss you experienced. I hope that you appreciate that your father is now in the presence of the Lord. You're lucky to have a direct line to heaven :P

| | my sympathies on the loss of your dad. i too feel the closest to my dad when i'm out at his grave. there, i can talk to him and no one hears me but my dad. i'm sorry that you had to endure the pain of not having your dad around for his birthday or christmas. i feel the same way and my dad has been 'gone' 20 years ago the day after fathers day (6-22-89) his birthday was new years eve so i always have a drink at midnight and toast my dad. your pain will ease over time, it did with me, it will still linger but the pain dulls eventually. | | | |

| |  I hope I can go visit my daddy back home. But I can't really afford it right now! He did come up here and spend the weekend with me, so I hope he'll accept the time I spent with him for Father's Day. Because I can't lose an hour of work right now! :)

| | It is very important to make a good effort to spend time with our loved ones. You never know when illness may strike a loved one or yourself and then you would no longer have the ability to visit. Last year my mom told me, your dad is not getting any younger. You should come over and visit. You don't know how long he will be around. Well, he passed in September. I do regret not visiting him as much as I should have. I am still always thinking oh, I have to ask my dad this and that, and then I realize I cannot because he is no longer here with us. The time is now. You must make the sacrifice or you will live to regret what you did not do, as I do. | | | |

| | Father's day is on the 21st of this month. It's also my dad's birthday. Since I'm working away from home, I'll be taking the bus home on the 20th to be with my family at home. Then we'd hear mass on the 21st (also a Sunday) to thank God for having a wonderful and caring father, and to thank him for all the years that he has been with us.
They'd be taking me and my sister back to the city on the same day. Dad's planning on treating us all to a buffet dinner :D We know we'd be lining up for seats with a tough crowd, but it'll be worth it!

this will only be my second father's day since my father passed away and its still hurts not having him around

| |  Every year, I offer mass for my father who is already in heaven for 8 years. This year, I will do the same. Offer mass for his soul and then will go to the cemetery to offer flowers and candles.

| |  Hi 4paws,,and I will be doing the same thing. I will be going to visit my father where he was laid to rest 35 years ago.
Although I was just there on memorial day to put a flag on my dad's grave for his service to his country I will now go and tend the flowers that come up year after year on my mom and dad's grave. They alwasy planted flowers every year so I make sure I take something that i can plant each year to give them something new and it fits in so nice with the ones that are already there.
I have been taking my oldest grandaughter with me to show her what needs done as my health is not as good as it use to be and it is hard for me to get down and back up, so I have been showing her what to do so hopefuly she can carry on the tradition when the time comes.

| | You never need a holiday or special reason to plant flowers for your parents or anyone else for that matter on their grave.
To me it just lets them know that they haven't been forgotten and shows other visitors that they have people that care about them.
