Have you seen somebody dying in front of you?

Yes, I have seen, I don't want to think about that. I was attending my room mate who wad admitted in hospital for committing suicide. She was in a ciritical situation with none of her family to take care. I was mentally disturbed, took leave from my night shift job and was attneding her.

I could see the entrance area of the hospital from the room. An old man was taken to hospital, but soon doctor found that he is dead. I heard all the people crying. I couldn't stand there. I came back to room. The stiuation was disturbing me for a long time.

Within the last five years I have witnessed the death's of three of my grandparents. I held the hands of two of them and actually watched them take their last breath and felt their hearts stop beating. With the other grandparent she was hooked up to a machine and we just watched the heart rate go down until she passed on.

I was bored with my life when I decided to take up Caregiving course. One of the requirements was to serve for a number of hours at Hospicio de San Jose. One of the patients there had pneumonia aside from the fact that she was really very old. We were all there witnessing her departure. It is tragic yes, but then, we were told that it was time for her to leave and so, just let it be and not to let her suffer anymore.
