Does anyone else sell there craft items? |
|
My husband and I started our own shop 2 years ago selling our crafts. He didnt think they would really sell very well, but when they did he realized that he needed to start making more stuff. So it now has become a part time thing for him when he isnt roofing he is busy in his garage working on wooden shelves, or on birdhouses. I on the other hand make ceramics, as well as knit and crochet. Then on top of that I do some plastic canvas, and embroidery. So all of that stuff gets put in the shop.
My kids are now starting to learn as well how to make things that go into the shop. We make alot of wooden kids building blocks the kids job is to sand them, then paint them. So they are having fun doing that for the summer. My 9 year old wants to start doing tie die tshirts and sell them I told her maybe. She did them at school and loved doing it.
I enjoy making things and selling them anyone else make things and sell them?

pmbhuntress (699) | 7 months ago | Its always fun doing crafts with the kids. If you start early in the year and make some items and put them away in under the bed storage containers you can always try a craft fair. I use to do them, But when I moved here to North Carolina I found out that the rent for the tables was alot more then it was in Maine. In Maine it ran $25 a day here it was $100 a day. Sometimes though you can even sell hand made items for a good price at a yard sale. So you may want to even give that a try if you like to make items. I do give things to my kids and to my husband at Christmas as well as friends but I always have plenty to sell.

pmbhuntress (699) | 7 months ago | Yeah they are having crepemyrtle days in Angier in September, and usually we go to things like that and we can sell alot of stuff at something like that. Another great time that I have found, is when they have the big craft events in November in Raleigh at the fair grounds. Loads of people go there but they get about $200 a table so you have to take items that will sell for a good price and make sure to sell alot of it. Otherwise its not worth the hassle, or the fees. Figuring the parking fees are about $40 a day.

3. happythoughts (2139) | 7 months ago | How fun. I would love to do crafts and get paid for it. Life is chaotic so I just have never really tried to hard to get into it. It might be a stress reliever for me. Its good that you are getting the whole family involved, that is teaching a good lesson to your kids.

pmbhuntress (699) | 7 months ago | There is suppose to be a site dedicated to helping home crafters selling there items online, I am not sure of the name of it but google has it in there. They give free hosting for you to even start a small website where you can sell your items. Which isnt bad where alot of places charge an arm and a leg for what they have there. They say Etsy is good to.

5. Lushlie (491) | 6 months ago | I am looking right now for something that I can make and sell. I like to scrapbook, crochet, cross stitch and sew but I just don't know what kinds of things sell or what to sell them for. I have tried checking out Etsy.com but it seems like all the ideas I come up with already have a TON of people selling the same thing. I have thought about doing a craft fair but have heard that the fees are expensive and not necessarily worth what you make. I would love to work one on one with someone that has been successful in selling their creations in hopes that they can mentor me into being able to do the same thing.

7. aslanlight (1575) | 6 months ago | I got ill with ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome several years ago and am too sick to work. The doctors can't treat it so I studied Herbalism and got a Diploma. Now I'm making herbal remedies and sometimes I sell them. It's slow going because I can't do much yet but when the herbs have healed me I think my buisiness will take off!
I'm not sure you'd categorise herbal remedies as crafts but I'm going to be making herbal candles, insect sprays, shampoo, soaps and hesian bags etc.
