Does Bates Method really works or it is the history?

I am suffering from high myopia -8 for both eyes.wore specs in my early days then switched on to contacts in my college and after marriage regular use of contacts .My eyes are dry now and sometimes allergic .Made up my mind for laser surgery but i had a hole in my retina about 10 years back and its operated and blockedthru cryopexy but still wanted to go for laser.Recently heard that its not giving 100%guaranteed for your eyes then i came to know about Eyemax german megnetic eye product i bought that as well, but not of any worth.Now after a lot of research to improve the vision without any sideeffect and guarantee i came across the Bates method which is i found i bit true bcoz its totally based on exercises as we all know that exercises do increase the viabiltiy of any organ,and in many hints,topics,in newaspapers and grandma's tips to improve sight shows how exercis can improve your site but i am wondering why is this not accepted .The supporters of Bates method said that the whole optician industry depends on the selling of glasses and contact lenses and its commissions hense no doctor and their sources will never the give you the advantage of Bates method.Glasses will only help u to see but not improve and it also deteriorates the vision more and make us more dependent on glasses and contacts and this i found it true myself as when i dont use any medium to see for a longtime i can see much better. when i use glasses or contacts to see and the moment i take off my glasses and try to see everything will be like a white cloud to me .Bates method preferrred the use of perforated glasses and reading glasses and some exercises to improve the sight with guarantee .please give your advice and thanx for your patience to read the above history
