attention seekers  

yes you are right, but some of those people really need attention because they were really screwed up as children...

I know i should feel compassion but i really just pitty those people and try to give them a few minutes of attention...

what i can't stand is when they take way too much confidence and start telling you things you don't want to know and expecting you to always be there, as if you didn't have a life of your own.

Well, your right, they are obnoxious.

**grinning**... this one made me laugh.... Robert.. I've never heard "up my nose" before.... do you mind if I use it? I love it! Instead of saying "gets on my last nerve" I'll say "this gets up my nose!"...

Oh goodness another wonderful topic... :)...Attention seekers exist all over the world and of course I know several of them but I will speak about someone in particular. This woman just loves to talk about her personal life without you even asking. She tends to describe about her personal relationships with men so on and so forth. I sometimes wonder why do I really need to hear her tell all these things that are extremely private and should be kept private. After getting to know her, she truly is just seeking attention and there are times when I'll just try to ignore her because I just don't want to hear about it. She really should just keep certain things to herself and handle her insecurities like seeing a Psychiatrist.

I'm not really sure what we're supposed to discuss here..But I guess I'll try to make do.

I know a few of these attention-seekers; it's quite annoying. It's annoying how the spotlight ALWAYS has to be on them. I'm not an attention seeker myself, but sometimes I like to vent to my friends - and it's annoying to have friends who don't want to hear about your problems & console you because they're so caught up with their own life. They're not very good listeners, in other words.

Same here....they are a pain in the behinder! I can't believe either what some will do to be the center of attention....my SIL....whom I love makes us late all the time. (I say she doesn't respect other peoples time)....so one day I said....I heard that people that are late all the time are doing it so they can make and entrance etc and be the center of attention....it worked for a while....now she is back to being late all the time....but anyway....I do think she does it so she can make an entrance! LOL

Well in reality most attention seekers have one thing in common.. low self esteem. They are the sort of people who want clarification that they are good and always seeking somebody to glorify them because they do not see their beauty of themselves.. I too pity attention seekers and when I meet one I make sure I stay as far away from them as possible.. unfortunately there is not enough room in this world to escape them.. they're in every bloody country!

Its like stupidity, it is in every one, the situation is what brings it out. Don't get so rattled for such a insignificant thing. Let them make a spectacle of themselves, and walk away politely, you will have a better life. Cheers.

Attention seekers have to hitch themselves to any passing bandwagon. It's a symptom of the 'me, me, me!' culture we find ourselves in, and it is fed by the media to a certain extent. Everyone wants to be famous or at least noticed, however they can achieve it.

On the news yesterday, there was an item about an 85 year old lady who had been beaten to death. One of the neighbours who was interviewed was sobbing on screen, saying what a wonderful old lady she was and what a tragedy had befallen her. She was right in what she said, but it should have been one of the family saying these things, and they would probably have conducted themselves with far more dignity, despite their horrific loss. I suppose the TV crew thought it would look good on screen, but it was just pathetic and annoying.

My daughter is like this and so is one of my sisters. What a shame to have such an alter ego.

Oh they sure get up my nose too and for reasons unknown to me I seem to attract them everywhere I go which is funny because I am a rather introverted person who hates attention!

I had a friend years ago who needed attention like you and I need the air we breathe and if she had it all would be well but if for some reasons she felt that I was getting it instead of her at any particular moment there would be hell to pay...For me! Needless to say we haven’t been friends for a long time because although I’d like to think I am a patient person I too have my limits.

It is an insecurity issue as you say and it is very annoying but also quite sad really.
