Make-up has use by/expiry dates! Do you take any notice? |
|
I didn't know about the expiry dates of make-up until I watched the "Tyra" show and she explained that using expired make-up can cause allergies! I normally keep mine for years because I don't buy or use make-up often. Are you aware of use by/expiry dates of make-up? Or you don't take any notice about it!

2. theweerouss (770) | 6 months ago | I usually don't pay too much attention to the expiration dates on makeup, but do make sure I'm not using anything that's clearly too old (for instance, liquid foundation that has begun separating color and water... yick!). If I use something that irritates my skin, though, regardless of how new or old it is, I stop using it right away. I've also heard that nail polish has expiration dates too. I think it might be time to purge some of my beauty drawer!

CJay77 (2800) | 6 months ago | I think your doing the right thing, because Tyra says also that we can see and feel from the make-up if we cant use it anymore. I too don't pay much attention about the expiration dates, but seeing the shows makes me checked my make-up, lol. I haven't heard about the nail polish and thanks for sharing, I may have to go through it also and throw some. Thanks, theweerouss.

3. kmaram (1717) | 6 months ago | Yup i do look for the expiry date of every item i bought. Not just in food but as well as make up and other personal things. Yup its true that using expired things can cause bad to you regarding make up its true that it will cause allergy to your face and when you used expired make up it makes your skin irritating. So when you buy particular things whether its food or things check for the expiry dates its really important=)
Thanks for open up this discussion, goodluck in all your doings!

4. med889 (2820) | 6 months ago | Everytime I buy my make ups I look at the expiration date to be able to know when I should stop using it. I use make up very little well just to apply some light one before going to the office so I use very little of it and I buy something which will finish very soon as I do not want to use something whih is expired. I also heard of the allergies we might get if we use makeups which are expired so better be very precautious when buying.

CJay77 (2800) | 6 months ago | I wasn't aware of make-up expiration dates, I thought I can keep it forever, lol. I will surely check it next time I'll buy make-up and like you I also use little make-up. And I agree with you, to buy something that I know I can finish it very soon to avoid getting allergies and wasting money. Thanks, med889.

5. galileo2008 (559) | 6 months ago | Yes, I am aware that cosmetic products do have expiration dates, and this is also another thing that must be considered in choosing them. As what I discovered, some lipsticks that are no longer used have molds on it, others have change in colors. We must look into the expiration date before we purchase them so we would know if the product that we're about to purchase is safe or not.

7. alokn99 (2901) | 6 months ago | I had a cousin sister who got a facial allergy by using a cream which had gone way beyond it's expiry date. She could not use make up after that.
I think it's important Cjay that the expiry date is followed for any product.

9. sharksfin (402) | 6 months ago | There is really no expiry date. It's more of, you hafta get rid of them when they've been in your kit for some months. If I remember it right, face powders should just be kept for 3-5 months, lipstick about the same length, too, mascara for about 2 months. I think it's safer to use them as soon as you can to full use instead of buying lotsa them then have some just sitting there in your drawer.

10. gemini_rose (10117) | 6 months ago | I did not know this either until I saw it on a tv show and then I started paying attention to my make up bag! I think my main concern is that mascara can cause not just allergies but eye infections due to the bacteria on the wand that comes from the eye. That is why they advise only keeping and using certain make up products for so long, the trouble is with it being so expensive I begrudge throwing something away before I have finished using it all!
