well who's a clever girl then | | ME! ok i'm blowing my own trumpet again AND i have good reason to, just 2 weeks ago i has this nightmare accident with my beloved laptop, i was in the hospital recovering from my surgery, still feeling slightly groggy and bored, so i decided to play some computer games, as i was plugging it in, i saw it slip off the bed (in slow motion) and crash to the floor, i tried to grab it but it just went, we all know how hard them floors are in hospitals, i was like......Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, yet again in slowmo, lol, and when i picked it up, the screen was badly damaged, it's an LCD screen and i could see the crack move further and further to the middle, i use this laptop for work too and without it i would not pay my bills, so you can imagine my horror when it dropped and smashed like that, i was GUTTED, this is when i started to curse myself calling myself all the names under the sun for being so stupid, cutting it short, when i got home i ordered another screen, brand new on ebay for £60.00, yep, very reasonable for a laptop screen, WELL, this morning it arrived and GUESS WHAT? i fixed it myself, i am not technically minded and i certainly do not know how to maintain anything computery, but i DID IT.....with a little help from a video of how to replace a screen of course, but just a few nights ago i dreamed that i was ficing it and i dreamed this twice in one night, i am so proud of myself and i have just saved myself £100 by doing it myself, i have been using a friends laptop for the past 2 weeks and i really do want to give it back, (just incase of any mishaps) so now i can, so i am one happy bunny today, i did this all by myself and it worked as soon as i hit the ON button, now it's only 8.35am here and i am still sleepy and i have not had a coffee yet, but this little task has just made me wake up fast and i am ecstatic, (says to self) "who needs a coffee fix" lol, so now i am going to treat myself to that coffee for being such a clever clogs, i just wanted to share this with you because i have achieved something today and learned something new about computer maintainance, so now i have told you all, i am going to make that well deserved coffee.....have a great day all, i am in such a great mood i could go out and rip spuds up from the ground....

tattylashes (4295) | 7 months ago | well i have to do these things because i don't have a man around to do anything for me, even when i did have a man around, nothing got done and i had to do all my repairs myself, but i watched a video on repairing screens, and i did genuinely dream about fixing it twice, how weird is that, lol, i am glad that i did this on my own because i did originally take the laptop to the repair shop and when i called him after a week, he still hadn't got the screen, infact he hadn't even ordered it so my laptop was left in the store room with dozens of other computers and what not....that lad has also got a bad attitude and was patronising me telling me to chill out, talking to me like i was stupid, he didn't understand that the laptop is my work and i cannot earn a living without it, EVERYTHING is on this laptop but he was just being a total d!ck about the situation, so i just went and got my laptop and ordered my screen from ebay, the lad in the shop wanted £100 to fix it and a further £60 to get the screen, what a rip off, so i took my laptop, told him he was useless and fixed it myself, i know nothing about fixing computers but i knew enough to fix my screen i thought i would be doing all this fiddly stuff but i didn't it took me about 20 minutes and that was it, as soon as i put the laptop on, the screen worked...not bad for a first timer eh....lol....

tattylashes (4295) | 7 months ago | oh that sucks, that place sounds like the place i took this one to, they had me waiting and making calls every day asking about it, i needed it incase i got a gig, he kept telling me to "chill out" he was very patronising, so i went in and i saw it there under a pile of other laptops, so i took it and told him to shove his services up his (ahem) within 4 days i had the screen delivered and i fixed it within 20 minutes, and i rang him to let him know, the cheesy faced bint....lol....he has no idea how to run a business people are always taking things back to him coz he hasn't done the job right, all he does all day is fanny arse around in his shop, someone will wipe that smug smirk off his face one day, he's too c0cky for his own good, i hate it when people do that, it's like when a woman goes to buy a car, they seem to think that we know nothing about them and try to sell us a wreck, they must think were completely stupid, news flash, this girl aint....lol....so i had to rub it in this morning and just let him know that for the 2 weeks he had my laptop, it took me 20 minutes and cost less....lol....i cannot understand how his business is still running because he is awful.... i wouldn't recommend him to anyone because he doesn't take his job serious and he has had many fights with customers because of his attitude

| | 2. gemini_rose (10153) | 7 months ago | It is amazing what we can do when we put our minds to it. I have a hubby and I have always relied on him to do the little things for me that I think I cannot do. But I reckon if I put my mind to it then I could probably do lots of these things for myself.

tattylashes (4295) | 7 months ago | thats so true, i know people say that computers are complex machines, but fixing this screen was a doddle, i was scared to touch it at first but i knew that i was not gonna get halfwit in the repair shop to do it any time soon, he hadn't even ordered the screen and it was just laying there for 2 weeks gathering dust...it's lucky i took a month off work after my surgery otherwise i would be broke now, this laptop is my work, i need this every time i go out and do a gig, without it i am stuck...i just remembered what i saw on the video and fixed it myself, it was so easy, so now i can tell numb nuts in the shop that i did it myself and that he was talking through his butt, he would have got paid for it, but i didn't like the way he was talking to me like i was an idiot, he's a patronizing little sheeeat, one day someone will put him right in his place....so i am proud of myself today, it was an easy task and it cost me less to fix....

tattylashes (4295) | 7 months ago | LOL well i can grow veggies too, new spuds are growing as i speak, the other ones have gone now i gave them to friends and family and everyone loved them
about the screen.....i had a look at the tutorial and the funny thing was, the night i read about it, i actually dreamed that i was fixing it...TWICE...yep, twice, so when the screen arrived today i just took the laptop apart, didn't need to watch the tutorial again and i had it fixed in 20 minutes, i was confident that it would work, and when it did i jumped up off my seat, i felt so lost without my laptop, i know my friend was kind enough to lend me his but there's nothing better than having my own, so i have given him his back with a big thankyou, so yeah, if anyone wants their laptop screen fixing, i can do it for them....lol....oh yeah..... plus i didn't have to pay either so that's great, i would have been waiting forever if the lad still had hold of it, he never even ordered a screen, so god knows how long he'd have kept it there for, he's a snotty little sod anyway, i didn't like his attitude at all...bloody dimwit....

tattylashes (4295) | 7 months ago | when i saw that laptop drop off the bed it was like watching that candle fall on the floor, slow motion all over again, i was gutted, i had no idea how i was going to get it fixed or where i was going to get the money from to pay for it, so i was juggling in m head wether to borrow the money or not, then i thought, WAIT, if i read about it and learn then i can do it myself, i could afford the screen but not for someone to fix it, i had it done in 20 minutes, i was well impressed with myself, so i saved alot of money by learning about it and doing it myself, if i had have left it in the shop, it would still be there now rotting under a pile of other laptops, that's where it was when i went to collect it, so i would still be waiting, i did tell the lad what a complete waste of space he was, 2 weeks and he didn't do one single thing to fix it...pffffffff....what a waste of skin....
i have planted more spuds and they are growing well, i am sorry that yours rotted but if the weather stays nice they may grow and the ones you planted may grow into nice healthy spuds, i also have beets that are in shoot right now and my peas are starting to surface, i also have leek seeds which are ready for planting, i am definitely hooked on this gardening lark, i LOVE it, it's a new hobby for me and i got a great result, just like i did with the screen, so if you need yours fixing, holler, and i will come to your rescue....

| | 7. xoxcharityxox (572) | 7 months ago | Good for you! I would have never thought of that and ended up having it repaired somewhere lol. Lesson learned, we girls can do anything a man could do... and more. Luckily, the internet is an amazing resource. It has really saved me in a lot of situations. I'd have dried blue nail polish on my couch forver if it wasn't for this thing. Saved me hundreds of dollars right there!

tattylashes (4295) | 7 months ago | it sounds so complicated because it's a computer but really it was so easy, even my 5 year old grandson could have fixed it, and here's me wanting someone else to fix it, he wanted £100 for the maintainance and £60 for the screen, i got the screen brand new for £60 and fixed it myself for nothing, it took no time at all....that comp lad is a complete rip off merchant...
