walkman: do you still have/use one?  |

 i was thinking today about what a great invention the mp3 player is. we can fit thousands of songs on to a device that's smaller than an audio cassette.
i remember owning one of those portable cassette players, a walkman. it was a small, slim model but was still bulky compared to the biggest ipod and i had to also carry a large amount of cassettes whenever i wanted to take my walkman on a train journey or to the beach.
do you still own a walkman, if so do you still use it?
do you know anyone who still uses a walkman?

I remember i had a SONY walkman a few years ago, when i was in school.
It was a funk gadget at that time. But with the introduction of discmans (first) and then the ipods & other flash based music players, carrying the huge walkman(compared to the size of the ipod)....becomes a huge headache...
So a couple of months back i put my walkman into the junk....

23.  hotsummer (2746) | 7 months ago |  walkman was so cheap. the one i bought when i was about 12. was about $5. i was able to buy it by saving from my school allowance. it took a month for me to save up that amount. actually the radio signal was not good. and the sound was not that good. it is loud enough though. but it eats so much batteries. i feel that it was no good and didn't use it that much. only used for for a few times. then it just left sitting inside the drawer till it broke down.

| 26. katsmeow1213 (4890) | 7 months ago |  I used to have a CD walkman in high school that I used everyday when I walked to and from school, then after that I had a regular cassette walkman and made my own tapes to listen to when I took the bus places. I remember when the batteries were dying I'd hit play and fast forward at the same time to speed the tapes up more. I don't own a walkman now, I just have an mp3 player.

Sweetchariot (974) | 7 months ago |  Well, I used to use a walkman whenever I went for a walk, but since I don't walk enough (and should) it never got used often...therefore I have never purchased a MP3 player as yet. I guess I am not into listening to music as much as I was when I was younger. The ony time I do listen to music is in the car, and even then, I use cassettes, because, believe it or not, I do not have CD player in my car. This constant new technology kind of gets me mad...all the things that you still have, and are still workable, can no longer be used when they no longer sell the parts to them....such as my VCR...I love my VCR, and it's still working...why do I have to go out and purchase a DVD...lol
