oh yes, we get them too, but what I can't understand is why they are so agressive and thinks they own the country, and do as they please, they even give you dirty looks and they don't want to mix with you or be friendley, in certain towns here they have their own comumnities and god help if you are white and walk down the street, bear in mind this in England and why do they make us feel as though we are the foreigners?

Hi hicup, There is a lot of truth in what you are saying. I agree with most of it. When we go to live in another country, we have to adopt to their ways and live their kind of life and not stand out like a sore thumb.Sitting here in India it is difficult for us to assess the situation in Australia, since what we tread is the Indian media reports which are bound to take the side of the students and I agree that there are two sides to an issue ...But what I do not like is the violence against the students, is it necessary to do that? and can one accept that? One of my relative was beaten up last year by a group of students who took his wallet, watch and camera and left him bleeding.All the while they kept calling him 'Indian pig, go back" -He is lucky to be alive and still has no clue as to why he was attacked, because he had many Australian friends and he never kept himself aloof...But again, at that time we thought that it was an isolated incident that can happen anywhere in the world and din't bother highlighting it....But I feel sorry to see such things happening repeatedly ..

I know how u r feeling now. But U guys are realizing it becoz this time the media is bad mouthing your country and not any poor Asian or African country.
Well I deal with westerners everyday in my office and I admit that I get to learn so many good things from them. But the thing which I hate abt them is they don’t hesitate for a second bad mouthing my own country ( India ).
Now India is a multi cultural country as well. How many times u have heard a foreigner saying that It wasn’t India but a particular group in India with whom i had a tough time. They just abuse Indians as a whole.
Now u tell me one thing how many Europeans adapted to Indian culture when they were here? Y this rule " when in Rome do as the Romans do " goes just for us?
European countries colonized India for more than 150 years and they tortured us in every possible way. Right from making us their slave, torturing women and kids and so many other things but how many times u c admitting them that they were wrong?

The time has gone when one can simply escape becoz of his skin color. If u r wrong then its time to get punished and get the same treatment the way you guys treated us.
Trust me I will break their nose the next time i c a foreigner misbehaving in my country becoz thats what their culture is, isn’t it?

Ok,lets see now,North Vietnam against South VietNam,North Korea against South Korea,Catholic against protistants,Islamic against Muslum.
These are all always fighting,even when moving to another country to escape the hatred there,now they bring it here,but if you will notice,it is ONLY the whites that are labled "racist".
I never had any problems with the immigrants untill they started making the governments change our laws to suit their beliefs,even when it destroys our past and cultural heritage.
I am quite happy to help new people as much as I can,so long as they are willing to leave thier garbage in the old country and except our language and customs.

Well I've dwelt with racisim all my life so I have a different prospective of what it is. I am african american, and I am sure you know the history. but it doesn't matter where I go and visit I get stares. and I don't beleive its because they are racisit its because I'm different or like you said out of the norm.and then at the same time I can go places here at home and I know they are racisit and I partly feel its because of the sterotyping of my culture but I can tell you the difference from someone just looking in couriousity or in a racist disgust. a racisit will make you uncomfortable, they will make it known they do not like who you are and wish you were gone. you can smell the hate.

I went to hawaii a couple of years ago and my family and I visited Pearl harbor. we are large women so the asian tourist thought because we were Fat, it was something abnormal. and I can understand because their culture is relatively small. some people around us said they were racist but so I didn't take it as them being racsist but courious.

You are right in that it is thought that Australia is very racist. Some people think that it is because of the Immigration laws or that the way that the Aboriginee people were treated. Some people in Europe proclaim that these people are still being treated badly. I don't know as I have never been to Australia and from th U.K. now live in the Caribbean.

What I can tell you is this. I agree with much of what you said but there has to be an understanding of how immigrants think. They tend to just mix and live with other immigrants because they are scared. They feel that 'their own' will treat them better and this is not always the case. This congregation of immigrants in certain districts etc is world wide and not only in Australia.

I remember seeing an Indian wearing a turban who came ot our door and i was so scared that I started screaming. I was about 6 years old at the time. My Dad who had lived in India for 6 years apologised and invited the man in to our home. Of course kids will look and kids are curious.

It takes time for people to be assimilated into a new culture and some will never do it - but perhaps their children will

What you are trying to convey through this post is quite comprehensible for me but I am afraid you made some mistake somewhere and therefore this misunderstanding.

I have not heard anything like that about Australia.You are all made up from foreign stock anyway apart from the Aboriginis who have always been there.The old racist card we see that being played in England if a foreign person does something wrong at work and are sacked out comes the racist card.Your child does not invite a black or foreign child to their birthday party out comes the racist card again.The child does not play with that child.It is because we are black,they say.I must stress that not all black,asian families are like this,we have a very nice Indian family run our local shop,no problems with anything like that.The trouble is we are all to frightened to open our mouths just incase we upset someone.All this politically correct rubbish is ruining it for everyone including migrants to this country.It is the do gooders and pc bridgade have made this situation the normal migrant worker just wants to get on with life in their new country and the normal resident of England don't give it a second thought.So why all the fuss,yes racism is a terrible thing and should be dealt with by the proper authorites.One white man murders some one, are we all murderers then.

I think you are so right - here in the UK we get so many people who have come to live in our country to have a better life and yet are then annoyed by our culture - if you don't like our culture do not come here in the first place and then get annoyed with us when this is our country!! When I travel to other countries I have respect for that countries culture and people and so why cannot visitors here have the same respect for ours? It is silly and makes more people angry when all it takes is to respect a different way of life! x

you got it right they bring the old world they left to our shores instead of tring to learn to fit in they cling to the old ways some I wouold say are good but other things could be left behind.
ANd yup we would be pointed at and laughed at from the color of our skin to our hair color!
