I'm too self conscious to wear a bikini at any point, so it's a swimming costume and t-shirt for me!

Its something about dress code.On beach everyone is like that.When everyone is doing that its less embarrassing .
Women act according to "HOW THEY FEEL".Imagine a girl is watching towards your lil buddy constantly.You will start wondering if there is something funny,or you pant have HOLE.
Keep yourself in their shoes you will solve most of the mysteries about us.

I'm female and I don't get it mate. I find it stoopid, pathetic, childish, ridiculous.
Suggest they where the bra and knickers at the beach and they will give you a horrified look. They will think you are stark raving mad.

Good question. I have no clue. I'm embarrassed either way. I will only wear a one piece suit that covers more then panties.

For the same reason that you'd wear pants and a shirt to work, but you woudln't go to the office in your pyjamas, that covered just as much, unless of course you worked at home. LOL For whatever reason, people choose some clothes to wear, and others are deemed under-clothes. If someone's deemed underwear, or night clothes, or whatever, then people will wear them in those situations.

I think if you are comfortable walking around in a bikini then you should be comfortable in bra and panties. I am not at all embarassed to walk around in bra and panties but it does shock others I'm not sure why either I fell the same way. Mt bathing suit covers more than that so why the stigma? I am a lot different than most females in the respect that I don't Find nudity to be at all dirty or wrong so my opinion might not be the one you are looking for but I'm a girl and I totally agree with you.
