the star is just like a reputation or showing how active they are in discussions. You can also get one. When you reach hundred posts you will get one. The color and number inside the start shows how active you are..

Good day, Cifer69! Well, when you reached your 100th post, you will get a star next to your name, that represents the user rating or reputation. When you point the cursor on the star, 'mylot reputation of x/100' will appear. Users rate the posts of others using positive (+), negative (-), and report abuse (!) buttons. The purpose of DRS (discussion rating system) is to help keep the quality of discussions as high as possible. The rating affects the earnings. If you post quality responses and discussions, you will receive positive ratings and you can earn more. You may avoid posting on discussions on which all of us have different opinions and beliefs such as politics and religion. You might get negative rating if others do not agree with you. The color and number depends on the rating of the user. On your 200th post, you are able to use the smileys on your post. You can use it by clicking on the mylot code at the left of the box where you type your post. Maximum of three smileys are allowed per post. When you reached your 500th post, you will be able to do pasting. Happy mylotting!

stars is about your activity here and so reputation on mylot,the quality of your posts how much best responses you had but also how much posts you can have on mylot too!!I noticed that when the number of your posts grow and so aslo the rating and star's colour will change with them!!
dSo don't worry much about stars or rating here and try to have a good activity and posts when you write on mylot and surely your rating,stars and repution will grow day by day!!
