I have to say that Maine life is a bit different, but it sure isnt boring. It is far from being boring. When you can wake up in the morning and have breakfast and have a moose stick its head through the window and grab a biscut or a pancake off your plate that sure is not boring.

When you can look out your window in the evening and see a mama deer with her twin babies coming through the yard. Or watch as the Moose walk through and play with the dogs, and teach there babies how to drive a dog into a dog house. Compare that to having a drunk passed out in your yard or staggering through your yard. Or having your dogs bark at 10 pm to tell you the drug dealers are dealing again. Truthfully. I miss, Maine alot.

Maine may be different, but its so calm and quiet. The people there care about other folks. Where other places people dont care. As for quiet, you dont get the calm and quiet in North Carolina like you do in Maine. As for the moose and the deer. We dont see them any more now we just see drunks, and drug addicts.

So your in maine? Thats cool. Probably not to many people from maine on here so thats probably why lol. Hmmm I dont know how cool it would be to have a moose stick its head in my window though lol. That would be damn cool to see a deer and her babies come thru my yard though. That sucks you hadnt gotten any responses yet.

Not there now, My mom is still there we moved 3 years ago to North Carolina. But I grew up there. So I can say I have tons of things I know about Maine. My kids, actually enjoyed living there. Once they moved here, they lost out on alot of things.

Of course to me, I have to say that I found living that 16 months with no power, water, or phone was a bit fun. But once I got it back it was so much more fun. But still we had our enjoyable walks in the wild.(to get the water daily)

We owned 140 acres there in Maine, compared to 2 acres here in NC. so its a big difference. Same price though so that should tell you something.

We actually met him once in Brewer he was in the shopping save there doing his grocery shopping. He was wearing an old Tshirt and a pair of sweat pants. That man never dressed up when he went out in the town, and people never made something of him. Maine people treat people like they are an old friend. Even in the cities. If you can call Brewer a city??? Its not that big. It has one big main street I guess you can call it a City. Its got tons of stores though.

He never went out for Halloween either. He didnt allow people to go trick or treating at his house but man did he go all out at Christmas. That place was lit up like an airport at Christmas. He lives right there in Bangor right across the river from Brewer. He lives right next to the local community pool.

Our last home was in Dover Foxcroft that is where I was born. That is sort of a strange town and has some strange history. But it was 45 minutes from Bangor. Smack dab right in the center of the state.

Whoah that is sooooo damn cool to have actually met him. He always seemed like a down to earth guy that is so cool. Hmmm I love samhain (halloween) a lot more then christmas I would love to decorate for halloween some day and have it all decked out.

So is it true that people actually dont lock their houses in Maine?

myLot reputation of 19/100. pmbhuntress (699)  7 months ago

I never locked my house in all the time I lived there. In fact we had a man that lived a mile behind us that would come down and make himself coffee even if we were not at home. He would always leave a quarter on my table so I knew he had been there. And if it was winter time, he would go and bring some wood in for the stove.

Only one time did I ever lock my door. I went away for 2 weeks. I had to go to the coast when my brother was in the hospital so we were going to be gone for a long time, but one of my neighbors had the key so he could keep an eye on everything.

I miss that so much, because around here I cant leave my door unlocked to even take the kids out to the bus stop. which is about 500 feet away. We have been robbed and broken into down here so many times its pitiful. You just cant trust anyone down here. Especially your neighbors.

Oh damn im the only responder that sucks? Thanks for the BR, I bet that was hard to decide on lol.

Wow I cant imagine not locking my doors lol. I dont think I would survive in Maine at all lol. And letting someone just walk into my house to make coffee? Hmm no I dont think that would go good lol. Of course maine and growing up in california and living in memphis and all that, well yeah major differences lol.
