Drenched in the Blood of Slavery |

Most people don't know this, but the Democratic party was created for the sole purpose of oppressing blacks, and I've always thought it odd that most blacks are registered Democrats.
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=101760
So the party that was once the first line of oppression in this country has now become a symbol of socialism and fascism. The DNC has never, ever stood for anything noble or courageous nor has it ever mirrored the values upon which this country was found. It preys on the ignorance, gullibility, laziness, greed and emotional retardation of its constituents to convince them that it really cares about the "little guy" and equal rights when it really only cares about gaining control.

1. Taskr36 (4640) | 7 months ago | It is pretty odd the way people forget history. Kennedy and LBJ were the first democrats to loudly oppose the oppression of black people and continue what Dwight Eisenhower started with the Civil Rights Act. Of course their biggest opposition was from other democrats.
| |
| |
|
|
heathcliff (791) | 7 months ago | Yes, they had massive opposition from within their own party. Where do you think those people turned after the Civil Rights Act passed? Todays Republican Party is loaded with former Democrats who jumped ship based on Civil Rights controversies.
Forgetting history isn't as bad as selectively ignoring parts of it.

Taskr36 (4640) | 7 months ago | "Todays Republican Party is loaded with former Democrats who jumped ship based on Civil Rights controversies."
That doesn't even begin to make sense. The republican party was pro-civil rights and anti-segregation. Why would anyone with the opposite views join the Republican party?
"Forgetting history isn't as bad as selectively ignoring parts of it."
You say that, yet that is exactly what so many democrats, especially minorities are doing.
| |
|
|
sndcain36 (2667) | 7 months ago | "loaded"? That's a bit of an exaggeration, to put it midly...
David Duke couldn't get the endorsement of the Republican party because of his racist views. But lets not forget that this is a man who ran as an open racist Democratic candidate for years and years.... And ironically, Duke wouldn't have been popular among voters if the DNC didn't spend so much time exploiting race issues and racial divides...

2. heathcliff (791) | 7 months ago | What Hedgecock (who wrote the article you link) fails to mention is that the Democratic Party of Civil War days is the Republican Party of today. States rights over federal rights, lessening of restrictions and regulation on business, suppression of personal liberties in favor of religious guidelines . . . Does any of this sound familiar?
At some point, over the evolution of our two party system, the parties flip-flopped on all the issues they support. Take, for instance, your average, Dixie-flag waiving Southerner. Today they vote primarily Republican. If the Civil War were fought with today's definition of parties it would be the Republicans playing the role of pro-slavery. "A rose by any other name . . . "
The main point of Hedgecock's article is essentially correct: Politicians have poor historical vision, but he is attacking the Democrats with unnecessary bias. That's what you get for reading worldnetdaily.
If we translate Hedgecock's rant he is basicaly saying the Republicans are racist WASPs who learned nothing from the evils of slavery.
Therefore, sndcain, it is the REPUBLICAN PARTY that is "drenched in the blood of slavery" and continues to prey "on the ignorance, gullibility, laziness, greed and emotional retardation of its constituents to convince them that it really cares about the "little guy" and equal rights when it really only cares about gaining control."

http://www.opednews.com/articles/Why-American-Muslims-are-p-by-Abdus-Sattar-Ghaza-081101-485.html
And liberals are some of Islam's biggest apologists though if Islam were to gain political control it would crush them under oppressive religious ideology. But as Muslims love to play victim the Democratic Party can use it to gain even further control.
| |
|
|
heathcliff (791) | 7 months ago | Oddly enough, nations based on Christian ideology have been just as intolerant and dictatorial as Muslim ones. In the US, we set out to have a country where you could be whatever you wanted without government prosecution. Fear of Islam has given that philosophy a severe test and many people are failing the test of tolerance. Leading the way are the Far Right "Moral Majority" remnants seeking control through the Republican Party. In America they represent a far more real threat than Islam.

A free ride on the taxes paid by the rich. Why should the rich be punished for success? I agree, the DNC has changed its focus to bring on socialism. It really surprises me and warms my heart when I see a black republican. You don't see many of them.
| |
| |
|
|
Taskr36 (4640) | 7 months ago | That's because there's a big stigma against being a black republican. Being a black republican opens the door for racist attacks from the left with the most common being "Uncle Tom". I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say Colin Powell isn't "really" black. He's brown. Of course now that he's supported Obama those attacks have decreased significantly.

sndcain36 (2667) | 7 months ago | I heard once, "If you're conservative before age 25 you have no heart. If you're liberal after age 25 you have no brain". It was said as a joke but I think there is some truth to it. Liberalism preys on the naive idealist who has no regard for pragmatism and reality and we all know how naive and idealistic the young are...
Liberalism is emotional and selfish, just like many young people.
| |
|
|
heathcliff (791) | 7 months ago | If liberalism is selfish and naive, conservatism is selfish and cruel. Anyone can be expected to act in their own sef interest, but when someone dares to try to make the word a better place, they get slammed as "naive". Conservatism cannot solve public problems as they arise because it is definitionally afraid of change.
Liberalism is ANY action taken to remedy a problem without going backward or maintaining the status quo. Linking it to Socialism is only true in the same sense that alcohol is wet. Many things are wet: Many things are liberal.
If ANY public programs paid for by the federal government are Socialism (and I can see that as a point), then we are a Socialist State from our very founding and reversing that was a point fought over and lost during the Civil War. Even if states' rights advocates had their way, it would merely move the Socialism to the State government level, not remove Socialism from America.
The GOP has done themselves a great disservice by making "liberal" and "Socialism" bad words. Without liberalism we would never change and we would be stagnant like pre-WW2 America. Without Socialism, we would have runaway capitalism pushing the poor toward a communist revolution. Neither is perfect, we have to maintain a constant vigil over our government to ensure they are responsive to the public, but a cold, conservative, non-Socialist government was tried before, in Nazi Germany, and should never be tried again.
I stopped believing in the Republican Party when I saw the conservative, Far Right proposing stagnation and authoritarianism. And since we are talking about quotes about Dems and Reps, let me give you one: "People who are intelligent and know their history are Democrat." The numbers of college professors who are Democrats will probably bear that out.
The Republican Party is in danger right now. As a group they have moved away from the country's political center. Bashing the Democrats as if they're all Far Left communists isn't helping.

Selfish and cruel? How so? By expecting--nay demanding-- that individuals be accountable for themselves and their own prosperity? Because the men who found this nation shared that view that each man was responsible for his own destiny and framed our constitution with that belief in mind.
Conservatism can't solve public problems? Oh really? Conservatives ended slavery. Conservatives did more for civil rights than any Democrat. So called "liberals" have given us abortion and internment camps and loyalty oaths and eugenics and a government that has far overreached its intended purpose. Look at any city run by liberals and tell me liberals know the first thing about solving society's ills. Nearly every single major city run by Democrats is a cesspool of crime, poverty and corruption. California and Michigan are glaring examples of liberal policies in effect and do we need to talk about what liberals have done to our school systems?
Please tell me one social problem that liberals have been able to solve. You can't. Poverty? Nope. Drugs? Nope again. Crime? Big no. Education? The environment? No and no....
In fact, I can't really think of one problem that liberal policies haven't actually made worse...take working conditions in this country; what started out as something good and right--fair and safe working conditions, has turned into something--corrupt, greedy unions--that is actually destroying this country.
Liberalism is ANY action taken to remedy a problem without going backward or maintaining the status quo. Linking it to Socialism is only true in the same sense that alcohol is wet. Many things are wet: Many things are liberal.
That is not the definition of liberalism. That might be what you think liberalism is, but that's not what it is. Liberals don't solve problems, they create victims.
Liberal should mean liberty, but it has simply come to mean "lots". Lots of government handouts, lots of entitlements, lots of government control.
You claim to know your history? Were you not aware that the founding fathers WANTED the states to be the ones to decide their own destiny while protecting the rights of the individual? That's why the United States is a democratic REPUBLIC and not a pure democracy, because pure democracy would merely let whatever tyrant who happened to come into power trample the rights of the individual. The founding fathers saw what happened when Federal governments overreached their power and they felt that smaller local governments could serve the interest of the people. Jefferson knew that Federal government was a necessary evil that must be controlled and limited; your comment shows that you really don't understand that at all.
You are more in line with 0bama who claims the Constitution doesn't give the Federal government enough power.
"People who are intelligent and know their history are Democrat." The numbers of college professors who are Democrats will probably bear that out.
LOL the one thing that I have found to be universally true is that Democrats tend to be ignorant of anything that does not support their world view. Most democrats are woefully ignorant of history and of plain common sense.
but a cold, conservative, non-Socialist government was tried before, in Nazi Germany, and should never be tried again.
What are you talking about? The Nazi Party was a socialist party and in fact that's what they called themselves in the beginning. They weren't conservative they were authoritarian and they CERTAINLY didn't share the conservative values of individual liberty and freedom.

OreoCookie3 (18775) | 7 months ago | There is no concept of responsibility anymore. There is only the concept of being entitled to having the government take care of them. This is so wrong to feel entitled to be taken care of, because someone IS paying for the handouts the liberals ask for.

Taskr36 (4640) | 7 months ago | "If liberalism is selfish and naive, conservatism is selfish and cruel. Anyone can be expected to act in their own sef interest, but when someone dares to try to make the word a better place, they get slammed as "naive"."
It's not the goal, but rather the method of reaching that goal that makes liberalism the problem. Giving your own time and money to better the nation is great. Stealing time and money from those who work hard and giving it to able-bodied people who are too lazy and incompetent to hold down a job is NOT going to make the world a better place.
Statistics throughout the nation have shown that republican voters give a much larger percent of their own time and money to charitable cases than democrats. On the other hand democrats favor using the government to give other people's money (specifically, those wealthier than the democrats voting) to such causes.

5. katran (321) | 7 months ago | Well, I think you are both right and wrong. As people have been saying, the parties of the Civil War are not the same as the parties of today. During the Civil War and Reconstruction Era, the South was almost all Democrats. They called themselves Dixiecrats and they were segregationist, socially conservative, and believed in states rights. This group of people slowly realigned themselves from Democrats to Republicans as the party platforms changed. It was actually in the Nixon Era that a Republican majority was recreated by including socially conservative Democrats from the South who hated the New Deal and Second New Deal and the policies of the Democrats. Soo..I guess you are partially right. The Democrats started out fundamentally segregationist and the Republicans were founded as fundamentally anti-slavery, but most of those racist Democrats came over to the Republican party, because those racist Democrats also believed in state's rights and disapproved of the socialist policies that the FDR era brought.

6. suspenseful (17137) | 7 months ago | I wonder if you realize that many of the European Communist states had the word Democratic in their title. I did not know this about the Democratic Party. I thought it was for those who wanted what they wanted at the expense of everyone else, or if one person jumped in the lake, they would all follow. In other words, they were interested in the lowest possible denominator. Yet when you think about it, a party that hates the rich is for the so called victims and the victims have to have someone to blame. I guess at first it was the black people who took jobs with no wages from poor whites, and now it is the rich folk who deny the poor folk enough money, and fail to distinguish between those poor who work and would work and get a better education to gain better employment, those who are disabled and unable to work, and those who are too lazy to work or think the rich owe them a living. So I figure that the Democratic party is a party of ensuring as many victims as possible to put the blame on those who succeed.

heathcliff (791) | 7 months ago | You are missing the third option: "beat your fellow man with a fish and take his stuff, 'cuz who cares about him anyway". This is closer to the Republican philosophy nowadays: Given that educational support programs that COULD actually "teach someone to fish" are against their official policy.
The true problem is not "dependence" as the Far Right would have you believe, but a fair playing field that rich people in positions of power have no incentive to promote.

Taskr36 (4640) | 7 months ago | "Republicans on the other hands, have a tendency to kick the little guy to the curb and tell him to pick himself up if he wants to make it."
Funny thing is, the U.S. was kicked to the curb during its founding and our ability to pick ourselves up is why we're a superpower.
"You are missing the third option: "beat your fellow man with a fish and take his stuff, 'cuz who cares about him anyway". This is closer to the Republican philosophy nowadays: Given that educational support programs that COULD actually "teach someone to fish" are against their official policy."
Republicans don't believe in taking 'his stuff' as you say. We believe in letting people keep their 'stuff' and compensating by reducing government spending. Show me exactly where in the republican's "Official Policy" it says they are against educational support programs.
"The true problem is not "dependence" as the Far Right would have you believe, but a fair playing field that rich people in positions of power have no incentive to promote."
Republicans are clearly the ones in favor of a fair playing field. We think it's fair that EVERYONE has a fair chance at a job and/or promotion. Democrats believe that certain minority groups deserve preferential treatment, even to the detriment of others. If a black firefighter doesn't pass a test for a promotion, than no white or Hispanic men can be promoted. That's the democrat's philosophy which was backed up by Sotomayor.

Strongheart (1079) | 7 months ago | Taskr - my statement about kicking the little guy to the curb was intended to portray that instead of giving handouts, the Republicans would rather have people learn from the school of hard knocks and end up with someone who is independant and able to take care of themselves and thus become a useful member of society. Kicking to the curb means no more than you can't play until you pay i.e. engineers need degrees but working and going to school is tough. And thus by kicking the little guy to the curb you are in fact teaching him to feed himself for life!
Heathcliff - Your socialistic views are not even worth considering. You either fight to survive or you die cause no one would feed you for more than a day. Dependance promotes nothing but lazy people with their hands out for more after they squander what they get. The main thing that kept many minorities down was dependance on social services. You show me a successful minority, of which there are many, and I will show you a person who rose above sitting around waiting for the next welfare check, took his butt to work, got an education and made something of himself. You too often criticize the rich because you cannot achieve. You say they don't want a fair playing field, there is no such thing as fair and I'd like to know what your basis for comparison is.

Former Secretary Of State, Condoleeza Rice, is a Repliblican. She followed in her father's footsteps, who originally tried to join the Democratic party, but because he was Black, they refused his membership, & the Replublicans accepted him.
