Have You Ever Wrote A Book And Had It Published? |
|
I have been trying for a few months to write an inspiration book. It is hard to find time to work on it when you work full time and have 2 children when you aren't working. Tonight I just got my 2 year old to bed and after a very stressful night, I just want to relax for a bit, so here I am on MyLot. But anyway, I'm just wondering if any of you have ever wrote a book and had it published. If so, do you have any good advice for me? Thanks!

tamarafireheart (12601) | 7 months ago | Hi Citychic,
It was really nothing to shout about, I've done these 4 poems but it was a pagan poems and they published it in a magazine, but I never got paid for it, thy publish your poems but they don't pay you, but it was great to see your work in print for others to read, I could dig the website out for you later if you are interested, its Raven Magazine.

3. hiccup (6584) | 7 months ago | Something I have in mind to do. I have the idea what I wish to write on and how to set it all out.
But I do need to just sit down and put words on pages.
How I will go about all this is to just write a few pages at a time but it will be an entire story (Chapter) in it's self.
As I do then I'll place them into a plastic slip cove and throw them into an open box, I will continue this until my story is done.
Then take each slip cover and compile them into the book how I want it done.
And yes there will be much more work than that to do, but at least I'll have the makings of my book.

That just means material that is not represented. You need representation, a literary agent or no one will read your work. Most publishers will even say so, "unsolicated" material gets unread and most will be honest and say it goes in the trash. You can even good literary agents, but they're like regular agents. As in, if you're a model say you'll have a different agent than an actor. Each LA(literary agent) has a genre, or genres, they represent. I was trying to find one, I write fiction, and it's a long process. I am still not puiblished and not represented. A legitimate LA will not charge you any money. They only money you pay is if you get published, they will take a small percent, under 10 but I forget how much, of any and all earnings.

5. fishkingback (245) | 7 months ago | Not yet. In fact,I have always been thinking of writing a book, and I had finished some chapters for a time, but finally I got bored with it. To be honest,I don't think that my work is bad comparing with some of those pubished books,I always think it is just not good enough for myself,so,I prefer to read more books and get more experiences before I start to write it again.

7. mentalward (4337) | 7 months ago | Get an agent. It's almost essential for first-time writers to have an agent to get published. Once you're established, you can pretty much write your own ticket without an agent but, initially, it's almost impossible to get published without the help of a good agent.
Good luck to you! I know all about that 'writing bug'. When it hits, it hits hard! I hope to see your book published one day!

9. angelmokka (116) | 7 months ago | I'm not a good writer, and I don't have good ideas anyways to start a book. But my friend is a great writer, she has her own blog and she writes short stories. Believe me they are great, and people get back to her blog every time just to take a look at her new posts. I already took copies from most of these stories, went to a publishing company and discussed with them to print and market a book for her. In her next birthday I will surprise her with a book full of great short stories, and her name is written there. I will surprise her with her own book. I think as long as you have two kids, I'm sure you have nice short stories for kids. Why not write short things? It won't take time like a whole book discussing one subject only.

10. carolbee (6777) | 7 months ago | I remember those busy days and nights with kids. Looking back, those were fun days with our kids although challenging at times.
No, I have not written a book but one day would like to. Did post a small article online about finding my biological parents. Would need much more information about where to start and how to find a good publisher. I did try to find a ghost writer but it didn't work out since the author couldn't help with true life stories. One myLot member was very helpful with her suggestions since she does write. Below is the article I attempted to write quite some time ago.
