Do you lick your fingers and then expect the cashier happily take your money?  

Who knows where the money has been?? A lot of the money goes through drug users hands, and many notes you can see a red stain which is most likely blood from a sore nose... It is not a nice thing to lick your fingers with..
Maybe if people could see the germs they wouldn't do this.

I don't usually mind if they talk on the phone when I try to serve them, or when they are in conversation with the person next to them, I enjoy talking loudly to interrupt. There is no way I'll wait until they are finished especially if there is someone else waiting..
I don't mind if they are on the phone and say hello or mouth sorry, but when people don't even say hi to the cashier, I sometimes think that is rude but it does depend if I am happy or not.
Sometimes the next customer points out the customer in front threw their money at me, but I may not have noticed because I am happy. If I am moody then any little thing bugs me!

I keep a hand gel in my pocket it kills all germs, it is pretty much what you use if you go to a hospital to clean your hands. I recommend it!

Some days I may feel a bit unhappy that I have a job like this, you get a lot of people who believe any fool can do it. I get a lot of customers patronizing me and expecting little of me.
I don't particularly mind having a job that doesn't require much skill, as there are millions of jobs like it, but because I am in view of the public, I have to face their opinions too.

I have a hand sanitiser in my pocket at work, so I can handle it now if people lick their fingers, at least I kill the germs.
Someone licked their fingers once and I put my arm out at the same time as them and they dabbed my hand with their freshly licked fingers, how unfair.

It would be nice if you put a sign saying" no fingerlicking" on your counter, im sure they would stop doing it.

I used to wouldn't allow anybody to come in my bookstore without a shirt or shoes on. I also wouldn't allow cigarette smoking in my store, either. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke, myself, and I had signs located in about three places in my store saying "Thank you for not smoking". If the customer didn't pay them any attention, I would tell them in a nice way. Sometimes they would get mad but I didn't care. Kathy.

It must be horrible and hard work to be allergic to cigarette smoke. I wouldn't have any of the friends I have today as they all smoke.
I don't really mind if men come into my shop shirtless, even if they aren't very nice. It just doesn't happen often, but I don't like it when customers smell of sweat.

I haven't noticed if it is mainly old people who do it really, I know that most adults do it too. It is just a bad habit to do and it's not very nice. I don't care if people do it in their own home but even then it's still not nice.

Yuck. I bet she picked up many germs by licking her fingers when being in a school, why do teachers always have bad breath? I have an old customer at work she always puts things in her mouth. She is old when old becomes quite gross, she gave me her recepit back as there was a problem and I realised I took the wet bit aaaaarggggggh it is horrible.

If only I had the nerve to say 'no I'm not taking that now you licked your fingers' but I know I'd get in trouble and always be in the wrong so there's no point. I just make sure I don't do it.

They can just be so ignorant. I feel embarrased if I sneeze because I think the customer will complain. It ain't fair!

Yep I understand people do it to get one sheet of paper or note at a time, but there are better ways. Some people completely screw up a new note infront of me then give me the bundle, I don't think that is the best way to check either.

I understand your problem. Maybe, you could put a friendly notice to inform your customers, not to lick their fingers. Inform them, hygenic is very important to their health. Perhaps, this notice could helps you, as well....

Well it is not exactly a shop with one or two cashiers, there are many more and we move about so a note isn't really practical. I doubt people will ever stop but I can't sit at work and tel them off if they do it!

In that case, then it'sreal quite difficult to inform your customers about their bad habit. Just hope, one day they will come to realise their own bad habit...
