AS LONG AS WE'RE INTO MUSIC; I made it BIG this morning. | | I've listened to every genre of music but I outright reject rap and "gangsta" stuff. Maybe that's because Country music has played a major part in my history, probably because my Dad was Country/Western as far back as I could remember and we shared a lot of time and a lot of that music over a beer or two. Even at work, he had the radio on the Country station all day long and almost every album he owned was Country. We were both taken by Gospel, but also tear-jerking, sheat-kicking and truck-driving sounds, from Hank Williams to Willy Nelson, Patsy Cline to Loretta Lynn and everybody in between.
I just want to say that I loved the stuff, but when I first heard Charlie Pride, it was a turn of the corner for me. It was country at it's most bestest.
The reason I bring this up is twofold; I found CP on you tube this morning and it reminded me... CP sang a Gospel song that I've never heard from anyone else and I love it, and would love to be able to sing it again: "In Jesus' Name. Amen." I think that's the whole title but it's not on you tube, and although I remember the tune well, I can't recall all the lyrics.
Part of it goes: "Father, open up my eyes to the wonders all around me; Father let not envy be a part of me in any way. And if I falter Father, or fall beneath my load, Father stand by me,, hold me to the road. In Jesus' Name I pray.."
I can't even find an album with that song in it on the internet!!! So will I get lucky again? Is anyone else familiar with that song? Can I get the lyrics somewhere?
I'd appreciate ONLY helpful comments, please.

Artist/Band: Pride, Charley Album: Sunday Morhing With Charlie Pride
Father give me strength, to do what I must do Father give me courage, to say what I must say Let that spirit move me, I'm nothing on my own Father stand by me, I cannot stand alone In Jesus Name I pray
Father open up my eyes to your wonders all around Father let me see the good & beauty of this day Fill my heart with love for my fellow men And if I'm tempted Father, Father stay my hand In Jesus Name I Pray
Father help me through the trouble days that lie ahead Let your light shine before me, that may find my way Don't let me stumble Father, or fall beneath my load Father guide my footsteps, hold me to the road In Jesus Name I Pray
Let not anger be my guide, nor fear be my master Father let not envy be a part of me in any way Father search my soul, take away my fear & doubt Any smallness that you find there, Father cast it out In Jesus' Name I pray.

Ldyjarhead (5167) | 7 months ago | I think I just searched the words 'Pride In Jesus Name I Pray' and it popped up in some obscure site.
Darned if I know, but as long as it works and you're happy, I'm happy ...

Have you tried doing a lyrics search, entering the lines you know plus the word lyrics, on google? I've found some pretty rare jazz stuff like that - not the chords or sheet music though, which is a shame.
I don't know if you're familiar with Rural TV - it's a new channel just launched in the UK, that has regular gospel and country gigs. I think it has a website - there may be a link there.
Good luck! I know how frustrating it is, trying to track down lyrics or music to a song you've heard.
Hope this was at least a little bit helpful - I may be a jazzer, but I'm adaptable!
