AVOIDING SCAMS, MY FRIENDS, (two of three) | | I seriously hope you read my first post on this issue because it's one that I confess causes me great personal embarrassment. BUT IT'S A TRUE STORY.
I hate to say it, but this is also true; #2:: that I was very depressed when my X and I separated and I felt like my world had shattered...I saw no future for a couple of weeks, before I started to recover (it happens; too many changes at once).
When I started to recover and regain my composure, set new goals and look for direction I got this phone call from a company that was promoting "the greatest breakthrough in the history of the world regarding vitamins and supplements" ...WHAT A FABULOUS PITCH!!! She was good.
BUT it was MY conclusion that this is what I needed to complete my revitalization, and I accepted it and charged it, and went on with happy expectations that I would recover my super-powers... until I received the package and it dawned on me I COULD NOT afford this great expense (over $370), so I called and told them that I would be returning the merchandise, but I was told that was impossible because of the nature of the stuff, and so on and so on.
BUT I STUCK TO MY GUNS and told them I would not open the package and that I was going to return it and call the Credit Card company and so forth... SURPRISE!!! The woman relented and made adjustments, and recalculated the deal until I gave in for less than half. How nice!
Let me say that IT WAS a good deal! It was a year's supply for about $1 a day of some of the best stuff I've ever had, although I never had them again. I'm convinced that stuff helped me out of my sad state of mind.
But here's the thing, which I'm going to illustrate further on my next post: YOU CAN DO BETTER, AND you must stand up for yourself!
Probably the best lesson to learn from this story is to BE WARY of telephone offers AND of your presence of mind when you speak with callers.
But also learn this...NOT every offer out there is a sham. Those pills were definitely helpful. I KNOW!
...stay tuned for part three, (3), -iii-
