Seriously, I WILL miss Billy Mays  

He didn't only seem to be a real nice person; from what I hear HE REALLY WAS! I didn't know him personally but I understand he was really friendly, helpful and generous as well. The article said so too. You're right, "Too bad."

My daughter told me last night too, but I didn't look into it til this morning and then got distracted by several other events in the news.
I agree with you about the circumstances of his death and I hope they don't simply dismiss the possibility of that bump in the head having something to do with it. It could make a world of difference for his survivors, and he had a lot going for him.
So sorry for his wife and kids.

I hope they don't rule that out as a cause of death either. Although the article you have posted under your last comment says heart failure. I just hope they get the answers they deserve.

I understane exactly what you're saying. I felt pretty much the same and sort of got a kick out of him and his positive disposition all the time. The information out there is that he was indeed a really nice person. Yes, condolences to the family.

That's definitely a different point of view, I hadn't noticed a difference in him, but I did find out in the article that he was due for hip replacement surgery TODAY(!) Who'd a thought! So he was taking pain medication. Plus, let's not forget the new program he was recording, which would also take its toll.

And I concur; he was not boring or worthless. And he bragged that he would advertise anything he didn't believe in. Maybe that accounts for his convincing drive.
I'd often get a kick of my youngest asking, "Why is he yelling?"
But let's face it, it was part of his enthusiasm. And I too, bought some of the stuff he promoted. In fact, I was looking forward to his new program, which I haven't got to watch yet.

I agree, I don't like being yelled at during an infomercial. I would immediately switch the channel when I reached Billy. Still, his commercials were so prevalent he must have been a great salesman and he was too young to die. It is a shame he wasn't aware of his heart disease. One has to wonder if he knew would he have chosen a different path? How could you be engaged in a career where you must work yourself up to a feverish pitch. I would think his stress level and blood pressure must have been through the roof!

Heart disease is another quiet killer. Many people with it, don't know they have it and show no signs of it. In his case, the signs were showing, jusyt too late and still too subtly for anyone to suspect something like it.

Stress is a killer though. I am well aware of the pressure that sustained stress can put on you.

In fact, MS is one of those things that they just don't know what the cause of is. Some have speculated that it could be viral. Well, if that's the case, a virus can lay dormant for decades as long as the host stays strong. But sustained stress weakens the host allowing for a bloom of the virus.

I suspect, that the maturity onset of the MS in my body, is a direct result of the sustained stress I put myself through. Can't prove it, but this is what I think anyway.

I am literally paying for the sins of my youth.

I have to wonder if that's exactly what Billy did to himself. Big, strong and otherwise healthy, he drove himself hard I bet.

BC, my kids and I jokes about Billy high pitch and yelling and stuff, but I sure listened to his commercials! And his products made it worth it!

But I understand that not everyone is going to feel the same...that's just the nature of the beast. To me, it was all part of his act and my entertainment.

Anyway, I certainly hope they hit on whatever killed him for real, because I don't understand how they could do the hip replacement TODAY if his heart had been that bad! NO! I don't think so; his heart would have to be under control.

Perhaps they should get someone like Dr. G (Orlando, Florida, Medical Examiner) look into it. SHE'S GOOD!

Vince with 'SHAM-WOW!' and 'SLAP-CHOP' is coming in a close second except that while Vince is definately got his pitch down, he doesn't scream at you. Vince is a fasst talking snake oil peddler if there ever was one!

It's most certainly true that Vince is coming up close and is funny just to watch him...What's with his eye, anyway??? But c'mon, it's a tragic contrast between the two!

I find it amusing about your son. My daughters are well aware and acquainted with MJ but they were at least just as shocked at Billy's death! I think he's going to be missed tremendously by many people. Like you, I found him highly entertaining.

But, about what killed him, I sincerely hope they investigate it thoroughly for his family's sake. But I already talked about that above.
