Shocked and appalled! |
|
I have a favorite radio talk show that I have listened to late-night for several years. I tuned into the show during the early-morning hours yesterday as I usually do. The weekend hosts are not the regular weeknight host, but there is one that I liked fairly well. I have changed my opinion of him now, however, because he put on what I would describe as a circus sideshow Sunday morning. He trotted out this charlatan who claims to have been in direct contact with Michael Jackson since his death and he proceeded to "communicate" with MJ right on the air. To add insult to injury the host and listeners were then invited to "ask Michael questions." I did not immediately turn the show off because I think I was in shock. Did these people calling in actually believe that they were speaking directly with MJ? Then I concluded: If the response to this quack was any indication of how gullible people are then it's easy to understand how so many vicious rumors about Michael grew legs in the first place. The saddest part of all about the matter was that the host proclaims himself to be a preacher. I will never again listen to the show when he is hosting it. Do you believe that people can be so gullible?

2. amybrezik (1085) | 5 months ago | That is ridiculou but I can't say that i am shocked. People try to profit off of the death of famous people and the gulibilty of their fans all the time. At some point the fans have to realize they are being dooped. Good for you for turning it off.

3. spalladino (8812) | 5 months ago | Yes, I believe that people can be very gullible...especially people who don't want to believe the truth for whatever reason. I applaud you for deciding not to listen to this person ever again. Most folks know who Howard Stern is but few remember when he was a shock jock in Washington, D.C. There was a tragic airplane crash in the area during the winter where a jet hit a bridge on take off and ended up in the Potomac River. Many people were killed...some of them were never found. Many bystanders risked their lives jumping into the frozen water trying to save those who were trying to swim to shore. The Metro area was in shock...it was terribly sad...and the DAY AFTER this tragedy, Howard called the airline and asked if the 14th. street bridge was going to be a permanent stop. He was run out of town because so many people were disgusted by his actions. I had been a fan but never listened to him again after that.

worldwise1 (6079) | 5 months ago | I am familiar with that story, spalladino, and it truly was shocking. I firmly believe that the people in the media whom we trust to provide accurate and unbiased reports on things like this have to be held to that standard.

4. ShellyB (3008) | 5 months ago | I believe that some people want to believe in something so bad, that yes, they would believe in that preacher too, tho I have to admit this is the first time that I hear a preacher talking to the death, let it be regular people or famous, I would have listen because I love ghost stories and would like to know what this preacher thought Michael would have said. (I do believe in mediums, good mediums however are hard to find, and it is just not me saying this, but I have heard it from a lot of people).

|
worldwise1 (6079) | 5 months ago | My problem with this, ShelbyB, is in the negative attitude taken by the show's host, and although I somewhat believe in paranormal happenings, I feel this show was inappropriate.
| |
|
|
ShellyB (3008) | 5 months ago | I think then you are right, I am not even sure what the preacher was thinking or how he was talking anyways.

5. heathcliff (791) | 5 months ago | I'm not surprised. In fact, I can't believe there isn't a show right now offering to connect fans to their favorite deceased stars, kind-of a celebrity Crossing Over. It is only a matter of time probably.

7. mikeysmom (1925) | 5 months ago | wow that is unbelievable and just beyond disgusting. no respect for the dead and no respect for the living either. i find it sad that anyone would buy into this but you are right about many people being gullible and easily swayed. would not want any of them on my jury if i was being tried for a crime.

8. celticeagle (4435) | 5 months ago | I think you have answered your own question. Obviously people can be that guillible. Even you were drawn in for a time. Alot of radio shows have to be dramatic and agressive to get the popularity so the radio show will stay on the air. This sort of trash brings in all sorts of people who enjoy the sensationalism. It is sad but some listeners really believe it as well.
| |
| |
|
|
worldwise1 (6079) | 5 months ago | Well, celticeagle, believe me when I say that I wasted no time in voicing my displeasure of the whole thing to the show, and to the host. I don't deceive myself that it will make any big difference, but I am not the one to remain silent when an injustice has been done!
