Do you feel safer staying at home?

I have friends who feel the same way as you do too. With recent events, earthquakes and storms for example, does that really make staying at home safer though?

I do think though that it used to be safer at home than it is nowadays. So many things are happening of late as I mentioned above which make it seem to be less safe. Once there was only the possibilty of burglers surely?

no matter if your home or away from your home if its your time to go then its just that time. as far as venturing out as long as you dont go out in areas that you know will cause you harm. but then again your life has a path whether that be good or bad and sometimes you have to have enough guts to enjoy life by going out of your comfort zone.

That does seem to be the best way to go about things nowadays apgh09.

After watching a season of Locked up Abroad i have decided to not go anywhere too far out of the country, however now that they have started putting air marshalls and upgradeing technology i do feel safe flying and it is something i enjoy, as well as going to the places i want to go so i will definitely travel.

I can understand that it now does seem safer to fly than in past years.
But do you feel safe when you are at home? Do you feel sure that nothing from outside can cause accidents and tragedy while you are inside your own home these days?

You think along the same lines as me - destiny and fate have a say in what happens so whether we travel or stay at home, if it's our time to die it will happen wherever we choose to be.

I do believe that if it's really our time to meet our creator, no matter how we take good care of ourselves, we cannot avoid it. Thus, whether we're away from our family or we're at home with our love ones we must always prepare ourselves of what might happen. What I mean is we should always be spiritually prepared for we really can't tell when will our love ones leave us or vice versa.

Yes we should be prepared for anything and everything in any place at all it seems nowadays whether we are at home or not.

It does seem that recently it makes no difference whether you're at home or not Cars are the easiest method for a vacation if you have the time I guess. It would take too much time out of a week when I go to UK so I always fly because it's quicker.

There are some places that we go that we fly because nothing else is practical - like Italy! This time we arent going all that far. We are going to Niagara Falls for a couple of days and then to my sister's place in Upstate New York. I cant wait. It should be very relaxing!

This vacation will be international - because we are going to the Canadian side of Niagara, but I wish we were going across the ocean international!

Wow! Niagara Falls are part of my trip when I ever get it sorted as my sister is not far from them. She visited already and I have seen here photos - you can almost hear the noise of the water

There are some tourists from your art of the woods that put their car on a boat and come here for the whole summer. HAd some in the hotel where i work last summertime. They were having a whale of a time doing everything at their own pace.

I have been wanting to get to Niagara for a while now, so I cant wait! My sister's place is only about 2 hours away from it, but that is 6 hours from my home. All of the pictures I have ever seen have been amazing! I will be sure to share a couple of pictures when I get back!

In the past I have always just used the trains in Europe. It isnt quite as free of a schedule as having a car, but they were always great to me. I liked being able to relax on the rides on not having to worry about traffic or getting lost! I can only imagine how expensive it would be to take your car there for a while!

You should get cracking on that trip to visit your sister!

I use the train a lot here too especially for long distances. To get to the sea forexample, it's a drive of just less than 2 hours but through lots of tunnels and it stresses me out no end getting there and then I'm thinking about the return trip while I'm there so I prefer the train. As you say, you can watch the view!

My sister is only a couple of hours from Niagara too (if I remember correctly). My trip is still only on the drawing board ut it will definately come off sooner or later

We should be safer at home but if you see that second link, last night there were many people who thought they were safe at home. Now some are dead, others injured and many are homeless

Your last line says it all!

I have a potted plant up on a shelf and to water it I have to get on a chair. I am very aware that one fall could be nasty so I am very careful. My father fell inside his home when putting his slippers on and died a month later as a consequence of that fall.

It was that last link that made me even more aware that life should be lived. I feel that today we are not safer in any one place rather than another. We could all be in a bunker safe from a nuclear attacks but it would only need one person with 'swine flu' to knock us out so we might just as well get on with what we feel like doing as it doesn't seem to make much difference whereabouts we are.

We don't get many of those high speed chases over here so maybe that's one less peril - but we do have the Mafia who gun down their enemy anywhere they happen to be and innocent people ae killed then too ...

MY POINT EXACTLY! An apparently simple fall can cause so many problems it's amazing! I'm sorry about your Dad; yet we know about people who have survived really terrible falls and gotten away with minor damages. GO FIGURE!!!

That gangster issue is another example --and let's not forget the poor cop that accidentally got killed by other cops just a few days ago...VERY sad. There's been a few innocent bystanders shot and killed here in the last few weeks and I think three of them were children.

I comend myself and my family into GOD's hands daily. It's the best I know.

We have had cases of mums accompanying their kids to school... waiting for the bus at the bus stop when a drunk driver ploughs into them - now how come those drivers always end up with hardly any grazes at all but theyy cause lives to be lost! So wrong and so much a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time too.

Those are sad, unfortunate and miserable instances that should be punished ever so severely!!!
Unfortunately, I think they happen so that those reproachable criminals can live with their consequences for as long as they live.

Indeed we cannot know what will happen so we just as well use any means to travel. But do you feel safe at home? Do you feel that maybe while you are at home a disaster could happen - for example like the one in the second link?

Ya, you are right. That could happen as well.

Planes, an explosion, anything these days - so we're just as safe here on the Lot than out and about
