Do you feel safer staying at home?

I just keep going. I think that is because I believe if it is your time to go, you are going to go no matter where you are.

My neighbor boy was killed a few years ago at the age of 16, and I think one parent blamed the other for not paying more attention to what he was doing. But, I just tried to tell them, it didn't matter if he would have been at home. It was his time.

That's just my own personal opinion.

I'm not afraid to fly...just can't afford to. An accident can happen just about anywhere. You have to live your life and the way you treat people with that in mind because you really just never know.

I don't really consider that when making plans to travel. As you pointed out, anything can happen anywhere and at any time. You might as well put the fear under your feet and enjoy your life because none of us are promised tomorrow. I don't get to travel often because of a tight budget but when I do, I just go and have fun and pray that God gives us a safe trip to, from and everything in between! Life can be cut short sometimes so I plan to enjoy all the time that I have. God Bless!

I actually hardly ever leave the house anymore. I go to get food and that's about it! I have been sober for almost two years now, so I don't go out at night. I love going to see music, but, there hasn't been any good shows by me lately. Besides, I think with being sober, it might be a little tempting to be in a bar and try not drinking. To tell you the truth I really don't think of it one way or another. This time of the year we are under potential threat from hurricanes but there are all sorts of threats all over all of the time.

When I heard about the disaster in Italy I immediately thought of you and wonder if that happened near you--sure hope not

Accidents and catastrophes can really happen anywhere, anytime--even close to one's home--cars going out of control and slamming into a busy street of pedestrians--one friend of mine that doesn't live too far from me is always cautioning me when around in his neighborhood....seems due to all the rain we've been having has been wrecking havoc with the underground manholes and causing electrical fires and causing the covers explode upwards--it's knocked out his electricity several times--as far as being safer at home...mmm...though VERY rare NYC area in the past has been hit by mild earthquakes...last year there was a tornado in the Brooklyn area of NYC that could be felt all the way where I am (Queens section). Many years ago there was a terrible electrical fire in my building and we were told to evacuate our apts. for fear of it spreading (didn't thank goodness)--so danger and accidents can really happen anywhere

I feel safer if i stay at home, by keeping your self alert and know the safety moves when every circumstances that comes you way like earthquakes and fire.

Well of course Ive always felt much safer at home, in fact sometimes I get just a tiny bit nervous whenever I leave my apartment, becuse of all the crime in our society, but I try not to let those feelings stop me from living, but I have to admit that I dont completely feel safe out in the world becuse every time we turn on the news theres some horrible crime going on, and though I'd like to believe that most people are good and nothing bad can or will ever happen to me, deep down I know thats not true and that everyone including myself can fall victim to some awful situation or crime.

In fact few months ago I was in a near miss bus accident I was a passenger and the driver had to make a sudden stop to avoid slamming into another car, and I had a mild injury becuse the force of gravity slammed me forward, it was pretty scary but everything turned out ok I guess, anyway to spite the risks I still manage to enjoy life I just try to be as careful as I can ultimately thats all any of us can do, but yes I do think about the everyday dangers of leaving home.

Everyone should feel safe in their homes, but you should feel safe going out of it too. No matter what you are always in danger, most of it is just small amounts of it. Like there is a chance you could fall down the stairs in morning on your way to work or school. Does this mean you should stay in bed forever?? No, you just have to do what you can to be safe and most of the time everything will work out. It is sad to hear when accidents like that train wreck happen though.

I am very sorry for all the families of those killed in the incidents which you mention and wish the people who were injured a speedy recovery.
These incidents are relatively rare and I don't let them effect my daily life and don't change what I do as a result of them.
I would avoid a certain activity if I thought it had a bad safety record. For example I wouldn't travel on a certain model of plane if it kept crashing but I would not avoid air travel in general.
