Do you feel safer staying at home?

I am afraid to fly, but that's only because I have never flown. I do feel safer at home than opposed to any travelling simply because of the statistics. Both of those occurences are of course tragic but the odds of our houses being hit by any wreckage are much lower ... I think! lol I may have to read ALL of the responses to get a better understanding on this.

It's not an assurance that when we stay at home we are safe but since birth up until the time we were able to gain sight we were like oriented and do familiarize the setting of our home and when we were brought to other places it seems like we don't feel secured. But though we can't assure that we are safe at home but still at least that's the place we think we are more secured than other places. That's why i don't really travel far places away from home.^_^

I don't know whether what i feel is feeling of safety or not but i feel very much comfortable in my home. Wherever i go for the day i'd like to return to my home. And when i stay outside for the loooooooooooong time(even if its not even a day) i start getting edgy, home sick. I think this is a different case. But i wanted to say this.

Second comment I have made this sort of remark on MyLot. Next time before you drive to the airport, check out the percentage chances of being killed in a car crash, and the percentage chance of being killed in an air crash.

The fact is that road accidents kill far more people than air crashes do, but this does not stop people driving or being driven. Both are uncommonly unpleasant ways to die, but car accidents are treated as much more day-to-day occurrence for some reason.

As for flying and not flying - I am not going to the airport much at the moment, not because I am afraid of what my happen, but rather as a result of economic circumstances. I cannot afford to travel now, or at any time soon.

Hello mysdianait. I think that it is still safer to stay home rather than to travel by any transportations though there is some unexpected accident like earthquake or such. That happens, but it does not happen everywhere. So I feel safer at home.

well i believe in fate most of the time. of course that is not a good reason to do silly things. however, i believe that if the time has arrive no where is safe for me. if i am meant to die, i will no matter where i am. look at the yemenian airline crash recently, a child was found in the sea. guess she is just not fated to die yet. that's why i will still do things that i want to as long as i take the necessary precautions. i leave the rest to fate. cheers

To be very honest, I am not afraid of travelling, inspite of the tragic accidents that we hear about almost on a daily basis.The simple reason being,I know I cannot survive in this world if I let this fear run my life.

I can stay at home, burglers can come in and harm me.
I could be crossing the street and get run over by a vehicle.
Anything is possible and I believe, what has to happen will happen, no matter what.

So it really does not matter to me where I am.

You are way more likely to die in a car accident! Airplane crashes are just more sensational for the media to put the fear of flying in us.

i always feel safer at home but that wont stp me from going out there.

I really only feel safe when I am the one in control. That being said I drive everywhere. I might consider using a plane or train if they would let me drive.
