Do you feel safer staying at home?

Accident is always there, some people died even they were staying at home.
Im afraid of accidents but it won't stop me from travelling.

I have a belief that until it is your time to go nothing is going to happen to you. That doesn't mean that i'm going to go stand on the hill top during a lighting storm with a golf club. i do believe in taking precautions like driving safely and not crossing railroad track when the arms are down and I don't see a train coming. But staying home you could also be in danger like have a tree fall on you in the yard or falling down the stairs and breaking your neck. I do feel safe in my home. But I also feel safe going out to many places too.

No because if I feared going anywhere, I might as well be dead now. Life is meant to be lived and people can die as easily at home. In fact, more people have accidents in places where they feel safe because they do not take as many precautions.

When 9/11 happened, we booked a trip to fly out west and cruise to Alaska. Hey, if I am going to die, why not while having fun?!!!

Even if 100 planes per year crashed and everyone died, it would not come close to deaths by automobile accidents.

If I live life worrying about when I am going to die, how is that living? We will die, that is a fact. When? Unless you are on death row (and even then it is not always definite), you do not know, so live every moment like you have no more left and enjoy what you have when you have it.

My son died just before his 24th birthday, but so many people said that he lived a lot of life in his short life. He loved to have fun and enjoy and did not worry. Maybe he lived better than many with a long life who worried about dying so much that they never lived.

That taught me a lesson that I will never forget. Live, live, live, and when you take you final breath you can know that you lived the best that you knew how.

Hi mysD. I would normally feel safe at home when it is storming outside and I need a sure shelter from the rain and hope that my home does not get struck by lightning. Accidents can happen anywhere even in the home. I believe that my fate is in the hands of the Almighty and anywhere I am, whether at home or traveling, I entrust my safety to God. I entrust myself in His care and I know I am in good hands.

I feel safer at home, although I don't think we are completely safe anywhere. The weather and the dangers of crime related things are scary.

I have chosen for the last six or seven years to avoid air travel altogether. I took the bus for a while. I now have an auto, thus I no longer rely on public transit. Safety, is mostly in the mind, though. Some people feel afraid in most situations, regardless of real or imagined threat. I tend to have limited fear of situations that arise. There is no one that can control natural occurences such as earthquakes, etc., however, many man made disasters could be avoided if people really wished to change thier ways. Personally, I feel that as far as the material world is concerned, people will continue as they always have. No amount of staying inside one's house, will avert global climate change or the end of the petroleum era, but I suppose if one wished to hide out, that would seem like a solution. In short my answer is no. I do not put off travels or anything else due to possible calamity.

I used to see TV ads with the statistic that most auto accidents happen within 10 miles of home, or something like that. And I've almost been hit by cars several times crossing the street in my town, just a couple of blocks away from my apartment. So there can be dangers everywhere, near and far.

As far as flying, I have family members all over the US and it's not practical to get to those places by any means other than flying. So recent airplane accidents (which are still very rare, considering how many airline flights there are each day) are not going to discourage me.

No. I figure when it is my time to go, I will go anyway. It will not matter if I am safe at home or in a airbus.
I might put off traveling if I have bad dreams about the travel. That depends, if I see them as a warning or not.

I am not afraid to fly or travel any other way. I believe when your time is up your time is up and there is nothing you can do about it. I just try to live for today and enjoy life so traveling is a great way to do it and if it means flying or cruising on a big boat I do it...I try not to think about what could happen or what has happened. I flew in January right after 9-11. That was a little scary but I went alone cross country and just had to keep telling myself I would be fine. Live for today..thats my way of thinking.
