My husband is on vacation this week from work and it has been great having him at home to help with the kids. It seems that he has been setting up the inflatable pool, going with our oldest son to buy their fireworks, and yesterday I went to the store by myself. drool Today he tells me to watch television with him but the minute I sat down to watch tv he got up to ask for a corn on the cob. He asked me how I fixed it ....

I got up to do it for him and before you know it 3-4 hours later I was cooking, washing dishes, washing clothes, putting things away, getting the kids drinks....
When I would pass by he was just laying down and relaxing on the sofa. I have finally gotten to sit down but now he is watching something I don't want to see. I guess that is how I got on the computer.

Do moms ever really get to watch tv anymore?

I don't think moms get a chance to watch a show from start to finish, anymore. I remember moms were big on things like soap operas and game shows like the price is right. But, other things just take priority these days. Life is so busy, busy, busy. And, with the invention of the pc, many moms spend free time online. (Just as you decided to do) Maybe because you can feel somewhat productive online. When watching tv, some moms might feel guilty because they're not doing much. I often look forward to days when I can lay in bed, take it easy and watch Law & Order or a good movie. Days like this don't seem to come to fruition though. More often, than not, the tv is watching me.

Yes, that is what I thought when I opened up my laptop, making some money. It's sad because I would love one day of just laying in bed and watching tv. One day my husband took the kids to his mom which lives an hour away. Well I spent the first half cleaning, then took a shower to watch tv. I thought he would come back late in the evening but he was home by 3pm. I see my husband just resting when he gets home after work. I don't have him do stuff for me or the kids since he worked but it's hard on me because all day long I am running around.

w00tThey never did get to watch TV where have you been. Your to funny. How do you make corn. Here this is what you should of done. TELL HIM. And how old are your kids again. Why can't they get themselves something to drink? Give me a break as you need one. Stop waiting on them hand and foot or like I told my sister whom is just like you on that. Your fault not theres. Her one is 18 and can't cook. Mine is 19 and can cook his behind off. Why I taught him and we had nights that we cooked together and then one night he would cook and I would watch. Then when he got to be around 10 he was cooking on his own. Well at 6 he was making pancakes on his own. He makes good pancakes. YOu have a good day. My Mom was like you also. I'm more like your Husband how do you make that again. It is a trick. Your friend onlydia..... I use that trick.

Onlydia my youngest is 4 and the oldest 10. I don't mind the oldest 3 getting their drinks but the smaller ones cannot lift the pitcher of juice I have. Between all five of them that refrigerator is opened up so many times during a day for "something". My oldest can cook for himself but I tell my 9 year old that he is like a 2 year old. I think he is one of those kids that you constantly have to beat sense into them... lol I tell my husband he takes after him. w00t

Yeah I know the line "How do you do that..." is a trick to get me up but I figured I might as well get up to do it because I had other things to do. I don't mind serving them because I love them. I gave trying to watch tv unless everyone is out of the house and I'm alone. rasp

I will never forget the time I let my son make hambergers on the grill he was 10 and we has hockey pucks. w00tBut I ate them and smiled and said they are good. Not the best but good. next time you will do better. As he started to cry almost. My kitchen was a mess 99% of the time when he was learning to cook. He can cook now and good. And you know my kitchen is still a mess when he cooks and after. Unless his girlfriend is here then she cleans it up. As she is 18 and can't cook. They make a great couple as he can cook and not as smart as her and she can't cook but can clean and is smart. She got a free ride to the UofM. And that is a great place I have heard. They just got a new football field. LOL YOur friend onlydia

I have learned to know all these Disney characters or Nick toon shows my kids watch as well. I have been homeschooling my kids for the last two years but this coming up year they are going back to school. My youngest son is starting kindergarten so I think it's better if they get back to school now. I have done so much schoolwork with them that I feel I am back in school myself. lol

Im not a mother but I remember when I was younger my mother barely got to watch TV. I think fathers should be able to do some of housework and helping the children out. I know so many ppl that the mother does all the work and the fatehr goes to work comes home and sits around.

My husband has learned over the years that I like to do things when possible. I accept that it's the role I have since I have stayed home. I think when he sees that I can't do it then something must be extremely wrong with me, like lately that I have had anemia. I love to help out, especially at my mother in law's I help her wash dishes, prepare food, etc. She has custody of her daughter's youngest children and most of the time her daughter just sits and watches tv. She lets her mom do all the work for her kids.
