4. Galena (3213) | 2 years ago | neither. I use a mooncup. it's re-usable, saves you an absolute fortune (costs about £20 and lasts at least 10 years) it's better for the environment, very unlikely to leak and very very much healthier to use. there is no risk of TSS, and it doesn't dry you out like a tampon or chafe and smell like a pad.

| Mindy86 (9) | 2 years ago | I dont think I have EVER heard of a moon cup. Can you explain it or how you use it... this is interesting, but how does the blood come out?

Galena (3213) | 2 years ago | the blood is collected in a little medical grade silicone cup you wear instead of a tampon. a couple of times a day you take it out and tip the blood away, then put it back. you sterilise it at the beginning and end of the cycle.

ycswid (193) | 2 years ago | I too use a cup and find it wonderful. I'm surprised by your price - 20 GBP. Here in Canada the cost is close to $100 with taxes which I believe is close to 43 GBP. I think more people might be interested if our price was closer to the equivalent of yours, cutting it in half.

Galena (3213) | 2 years ago | that's mad. why so expensive? and I'm all for taxing disposables, as they take up landfill when they are disposed of, but what reason is there to tax a reusabe item? great shame if it's as much as that over there. although I'm sure you still make your money back pretty quickly from what you save, it just may put a lot of people off the initial outay.

5. ycswid (193) | 2 years ago | I was a tampon person but now I too use a menstrual cup. I have been using one for almost 2 years and it's wonderful. I chose to start because I didn't like the garbage created by disposable products and now I've found that my flow has decreased along with my cramping. I've heard this from many ladies on the livejournal site that deals with menstrual cups. community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups There you can find women talking about how to use the cup, what cup they like best and some of the benefits of using a cup. There are two cups that I am aware of in North America The Diva Cup (my choice) www.divacup.com The Keeper www.keeper.com I also do use my own homemade pads if I'm going out and need some added protection.
