Concentration is very important for a student. As I am an MCA student and having a lot to study. but sometime i felt lack of concentration. I tried many steps to improve concentration. But i am not satisfied with all that. Have you any sugessions to increase/improve concentration?

I had a similar problem couple of years ago, its sometimes frustrating when you're not able to concentrate. For me, the factor responsible was environment, my surroundings. I got myself a room, and my problem was solved.
Now, if disturbance is a problem then you should do the same. Sometimes, this happens due to instability of mind, might be you are too anxious, or excessively enthusiastic! I won't suggest any yoga or meditation. You should give yourself some time, spend some time alone in isolation every day. Analyze yourself and try putting your mind onto some specific thing. This will help in increasing your focus on some thing and even book. Develop interest in whatever you read and don't forget about your environment.

I wonder why you will not suggest meditation and yoga, I agree which your think to give some time to ourself in isolation but in this fast and competitive world, even if you are in isolation your mind will be running at every places at every problems of day to days life and in isolation it will be more.

Yoga and meditation are the ideal remedy, I will suggest you to do some pranayama like kapalbhati and Anulom vilom. Apart from that do savasana for few minutes and then see the result within few days. Yourmind will be clear and fresh and you will feel the enjoyment, your concentration will increase and your interest will increase in whatever work you do.

concentration is not only essential for a student it does play a big role in every part of our life. Have you tried yoga? A healthy body can always concentrate on things 10 times more than the unhealthy mind and body. Yoga helps people clear mind and body and thus improving the concentration.

HAve you tried the candle trick? Light a candle and sit in front of it. Try to focus the wick of the candle. For the first time you may find it a little difficult to concentrate and your eyes may start burning too but as days go by try to increase the minutes of your focus. Try and do let me know if it has done any good to you:)

F= Five More Rule
There are two kinds of people -- those who have learned how to work through frustration, and those who wish they had. From now on, if you're in the middle of a task and tempted to give up -- just do FIVE MORE.

Just as athletes build physical stamina by pushing past the point of exhaustion, you can build mental stamina by pushing past the point of frustration.

O= One Think At a Time
Samuel Goldwyn said, "If I look confused, it's because I'm thinking." Feeling scatter-brained? Overcome perpetual preoccupation with the Godfather Plan -- make your mind a deal it can't refuse. Yes, the mind takes bribes. Instead of telling it NOT to worry about another, lesser priority (which will cause your mind to think about the very thing it's not supposed to think about!), assign it a single task with start-stop time parameters.

For example, "I will think about how to pay off that credit card debt when I get home tonight and have a chance to add up my bills. For now, for the next thirty minutes from 1-1:30 pm, I will give my complete focus to practicing this presentation so I am eloquent and articulate when pitching this proposal to our VIP clients."

Still can't get other concerns out of your head? Write them down on your to-do list so you're free to forget them. Recording worrisome obligations means you don't have to use your brain as a "reminder" bulletin board, which means you can give your undivided attention to your top priority task.

C= Conquer Procrastination
Don't feel like concentrating? Are you putting off a task or project you're supposed to be working on? That's a form of procrastination. R. D. Clyde said, "It's amazing how long it takes to complete something we're not working on."

Next time you're about to postpone a responsibility ask yourself, "Do I have to do this? Do I want it done so it's not on my mind? Will it be any easier later?" Those three questions can give you the incentive to mentally apply yourself because they bring you face to face with the fact this task isn't going away, and delaying will only add to your guilt and make this onerous task occupy more of your mind and time.

You can try and do some concentration-intensive exercises, like walking on a plank on the floor - or slightly raised - for at least 2 minutes, or balancing a broomstick in your hand for 5 minutes, or as long as possible.

Meditation increases concentration.Try to go for some meditation classes.If not you can sit in a calm place at home,listen to some soft devotional songs,and can meditate,but u will take sometime to gain concentration.above all when you do a work with passion,ithink Mr.concentration is never a hindarance.

Hi I have got the same problem as well. I've got tons of notes to study and yet I can't bring myself to study. I've tried to do it several times and until now I can't bring myself to do it. I really need serious help to tackle it soon or else I will fail my exams next year.
