Have any of you ever had a lawnmower or snowblower accident?  |

|  Our lawnmower has so many precautions to keep us from hurting ourselves. It won't start unless the handles are out and the blades are turned off. If you try to get off of it while the blades are turning it will shut off automatically. I have heard of people getting their toes or finger cut off. What I have to be careful of is the weed eater. I would have surely cut off one of my toes if I had not had good shoes on as the cord went right across my shoe. Of course I am missing my big toe and the next one to diabetes so maybe that would have been cheaper way to go.

| |  I nver had an accident of using those, I just started learning how to use it this summer. My husband told me many times to be careful and repeated telling me how to use it becaus eI'm not quite strong enough to move it and even start it but i wnat to help at the same time... I remember one time I forgot to p[ut away the gardening tools after yard work and I left it on the grass, he mowed it... and the thing got all bended... that was an example of being careful otherwise next time my leg would be cut off.. that was scary!

| | My wife forgot about the blades still going and drove into the garage where we have a yard of indoor outdoor carpet to keep out the rain. She drove over it and it got all caught up in the mower. The mower automatically stopped. The neighbor has the same kind of mower and he drove over his garden hose and cut it up into a couple of pieces. | | | |

| |  I haven't.....In the past I had my son mow when he was living here....and in the last couple of years I have hired it done. I am a klutz though...so if I was doing it I would have to be very careful! LOL

| | We will probably have to come to that one of these days. I really can't ride the mower as I am too heavy but my wife is having a hard time getting on and off. Don't know how long she will be able to climb up on it. Maybe she will have to use the stepping stool. We have such a big yard that it cost a lot to have someone come and mow it. | | | |

| |  no thank goodness i have not had an accident with my mower or weed eater but i had a friend her father in law rain over her little son and one of his fingers were cut off.

| |  Well this was a very minor one but is not what one would expect. When I was a kid my dad used a push mower, no gas engine, not riding, all done by human power. It had blades that ran across the mower and rotated with the wheels when the mower was pushed. Anyway when I was a kid, maybe 8 or less, he let me try it; I had to reach up for the handle. I was pushing it and there was a ditch and it slammed into the bottom and stopped and I hit my chin on the handle right in the middle where there was a bolt nut and cut my chin. My Dad used that old push mower for many years even though the yard was big and only reluctantly finally got a gas engine mower but never a riding mower.

| | I remember those days. Glad they have invented the riding mower even if they are dangerous. Ours is so good that I don't know how you could hurt yourself unless you ran over someone else. Even some mowers will not let you back up or the blade turns off if you do. | | | |
