Generally I am not recharged old battery and always discarded , buy the new battery
for my electrical appliances. But most of my friends told me that
try to recharge the battery and use that, don't be discarded because
old batteries are spoiled the environment. Do you agree this statement???

you can buy rechargeable batteries which are expensive because i have to buy a special battery charger that can be plugged into a socket however if you buy a lot of batteries anyway then this would be a good option because it will save you money in the long term

You can only safely and successfully recharge batteries that are made to be recharged. They are always clearly marked 'Rechargable'. Some battery chargers claim that they can 'recharge' used zinc-carbon or alkaline batteries (such as Duracell) but, in fact, this only extends their life a very little and there is a very real danger of explosion.

Old batteries should always be properly recycled if you can find somewhere that will accept them. If they go into landfill, they do great harm to the environment which can last for hundreds of years, because they take a long time to release their chemicals. Unfortunately, recycling is expensive and there are not enough companies prepared to do it, even in Europe.

It is best to use rechargable batteries where ever possible, even though the initial cost is higher. They will last longer and are actually more economic to recycle when they do eventually fail.
