Well Speilberg is undoubtedly one of the best directors Hollywood ever had.But best can not be used for anyone in specific.There are many directors whose movies I love to watch.The list includes Alfred Hitchcock,James Cameron and Clint Eastwood.Everyone has their own style of making movies and I just love them all.

I think, Spielberg is the most universally known director of his generation but still far from the best... even him would agree to that... He is famous for his blockbuster movies contribution but for a more deeper movie w/ deeper story, I would say guys like Francis Ford Coppola, Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorcese are among the best directors out there... Not to mention Peter Jackson who directed the mega blockbuster The Lord of the Ring Trilogy & James Cameron for the Titanic & Terminator 1 & 2...
