can you TRUST A STRANGER? has MONEY gone to your head?

I have two addresses just for junk too and I have even given them to users on here until I was sure they were serious about the reason they wanted it - and in EVERY case they weren't.

I can 'feel' who is worthy of having my usual addy and it will not be anyone who asks for it in a discussion EVER!

Yea, I hear ya. I'm really not sure what the point of giving it out in a discussion is. Why do you see people giving it out? I don't think I've ran into it very many times.

You can see what I saw in the 'hot' discussions right now
and it will get worse because users are not thinking. They seem blinded by a promise of such a trivialamount too

yes,your guess is right,i am doing the same thing with you,but more than that,i have 6 email addresses, two of them are for making money online,one for be in contact with friends and family,two for working stuff,coz my work is about selling things all over the world,email is a must,the other one is right there for abuse,when i sign up websites i dont know, idont need,that is junk mail,so i got 6.
and the junk email is the one i share to 'that people '.

That's a great way of going about things but whatever you do, don't place any of those addresses in the discussions here as it would be a violation.

I would not give an email address to a stranger unless you know what you are doing.
But if a stranger keep sending you thru an email for all kinds of stuff. I suggest click on the unsubscribe tab. Then the strangers will stop sending you stuff that you don't want.

Hey the mails that we get from our own mail addresses aren't actually from our own ids. They are actually from some other ids but made so, so that they'll seem to be from our ids. So chill yaar...

I am concerned for all those users (some of them not even new) who have responded giving their address to a perfect stranger You have seen for yourself what can happen - they just do not seem to have given the slightest thought to what they did when rsponding

Those are the users who jump if someone says 'give me your addy for free money' and they should be made to be aware of what they could be letting themselves in for.

One thing is giving it to our friends that we have been chatting with here for sometime and know more about them.

It's another thing (and a violation too) to post it here in discussions and myLot made it a violation for our own benefit. Once it's in a discussion anyone can use it for good or bad purposes.

If only users would THINK before they do certain things on here

Through a PM will NOT appear in searches zandi. Your PMs are only visible to YOU when you are logged in. Once you logout even you cannot read them and certainly no-one else ever will.

MyLot would not have stated that in their Terms here unless there was a reason for doing so. With all the viruses, scams and hackers around why tempt fate?

If you give your email you are not going to get viruses or be hacked, or whatever. You only have to be cautious when opening an email or downloading an attachment, that´s all. Of course if in the terms it says not to give your email, I won´t give it in public, but just because it´s a rule. Nothing could really happen (appart from the spam stuff) if you give someone your email.

Many myLotters have no computer knowledge whatsoever. They would be unaware that opening some mails could cause problems. If they so willingly gave out their address, I can also guess they would jump at a mail with the subject 'You Have Won $XXX' too - and THAT is why it should not be done in discussions!

The Terms here on myLot are made to cover every type of user, worldwide whether young or old, tech savvy or not, and many of the clauses are for OUR OWN BENEFIT!

You are right with this. And the terms are OK, and I try to follow the terms always. However as I know which mail could be dangerous or not, personally, I don´t care to give my email (in a private message, so I do not break the rules). However, as you say, it may not be advisable to give emails to strangers.

How can anyone be sure that when a user asks for a mail they are really asking for it for a money site? Younger users could get caught up in any sort of thing at all - there are no end of reasons why it should not appear in a discussions

I think she is also stressing the fact that any public forum is not safe to give personal information . .Gmail safe or no Gmail safe....the internet is kinda like the Wild West was back in the day when people went west to find their fortunes.

Be careful out here. .. Mylot isnt what it is cause someone just wanted to come up with rules and regulations . . it is a new place to come and hang out......some come to find their fortune .others to learn new things and others to make new friends...

There are many different things that could happen in your email besides getting spam. I work for an organization that deals daily with harassers and hackers that get your email address and then proceed to gain your personal information through that to use against you.

I also have a spam account but I don't trust just anyone to even that.

There are many things that people do that are wrong, but it does happen.

It is each person's choice what they do, I just don't...

Yes and now that you have confirmed it I wish more users would be aware of this. There are so many evil folk out there it just seems amazing that so many users are not seeing the point of this in later responses

I have exchanged offline details with several friends on here during the two years since I joined but NEVER would I give them to a total stranger.

The user asking for the addy has 50 posts - how could anyone trust someone and give it out so freely when they have no reputation here whatsoever

Yeah and the same person was promoting that 2 weeks ago. I asked what the name of the program was and they still wouldnt say and almost demanded that I give them my email address when I denied them that, they in return wanted me to become there friend, so I was nice enough to allow them the friend request only to get once again the demand for my email address. they were off my friends list real fast. Its a scam of some sort.

Did you see HOW MANY users had given out their email addy with no second thought? Now all those are available to anyone on the net

I have a few banners in mine too (for the only sites that I am using that are paying regularly) and that IS the proper way to do it here on myLot. The problem is that the scammers and spammers come here with bait for all the people who have not long startedt rying to earn online and sadly will fall for anything

Your bank and travel company etc are established enterprises (if that's the right word). They are not strnagers as in 'individuals hiding behind a monitor and supposedly coming from any part of the world and promising something for nothing' - just to line their own pockets! Once those addresses are in a discussion here then they could be used for anything. (I am also thinking about all the wierdo, maniacal things that happen and not only scams concerning earning sites)
