can you TRUST A STRANGER? has MONEY gone to your head?

This is why my fear arises.

It could well be that those emails are NOT for a money-making venture at all. That user (or someone else) could have other intentions.

There is so much evil (and I mean real evil not bashings on myLot) online that we all need protecting and many of those who are providing their mails could even be underage, young girls or whatever with no supervision while online.

Yes that is very true, That is why my kids are not allowed to even go online. They are allowed only to do it through the school. There is enough nasty dirty spam out there in my own email. I dont need my kids getting it to. Or worse.

Now you've got it! That's where my concern is.
I have my doubts that even half of those types of so-called discussions that do not mention the site are even talking about money

You should NOT post it in discussions, responses or comments here as it is a violation of the Terms.

How can you be certain that someone would not use it for things other than those you intended, even if it was a secondary mail?

Yes I know it's not a new occurrance but it seems like these users just never learn. That discussion out there now has got me really concerned as pratically all the responses didn't bat an eyelid and just gave their mail at the snap of a finger - so stupid!

I don't give mine out easily either. Only those who I consider as friends have it after a mutual exchange and a certain trust has been built up over time here. Never ever would I give it to others, especially those with as few posts as that one has

Hey James. What makes you think people have common sense? That is a skill set that is sadly lacking in this generation. People can have all the education in the world and even have a genius IQ but if they don't have common sense they are dumb as dirt.

I think at this point each user should get a personal warning about some of the things they should not do FOR THEIR OWN BENEFIT on here. This one is in the Terms but it appears that NO-ONE reads them!

Of the more than 170,000 members of mylot I for one have read the TOS and guidelines. In fact I have read them several times. It pays to have a good understanding of the rules when you play in someone else's sandbox.

Some of those discussions might give you an idea of the number of people who use internet with the WRONG intentions. If all you recieve is spamthen that's fine but why take the risk?

Pass the message on to your friends her naresh. There are so many discussions in the money interests that only ask for email addresses and new users pass them on with out thinking at all about the risks they are taking. If a new user is asking then we MUST stop and wonder why they need it and doubt the reasons.

That's the way Please continue to be wary of those asking for your email address and advice your friends to do the same. We can never be too careful and as you say, there is NO reason for asking for an email address

There is absolutely no reason to give an address in order to join a site and when the request comes froma user with hardly any posts to their name there is something very wrong in trusting them with your address.

I give my mail to users once we become friends outside the discussions. At that point there is mutual trust and we know each other well enough to exchange them but NEVER would I give mine to a new user

I believe we are in agreement. Hope this discussion will help some others to not make the mistake of giving out their email address too freely.

That's what PMs are for and between friends once you get to know each other and trust builds up then I too exchnage personal details. But never in discussions and NEVER to a total stranger. A user with only a few posts is a stranger here (unless they openly declare that they are a return user) and should never, ever be trusted. Warn your friends if you see them giving out their emails in discussions. It is for their own good that myLot does not allow it as in the hands of the wrong people it can cause a lot of trouble.

yes my friend I too believe it is unsafe to do that, and if I see one of my friends do that in any of the discussions they have replied then I would pm them not to do so.. I never have any discussion asking for pm or referrals I try to avoid this stuff thanks for the discussion as well at least lots of members would know the risk they are getting into...

Yes I avoid them now but there seem to be more and more every day. Hopefully for those who seem so interested in them, none will be scams - but I have my doubts
