1. nancyrowina (2026) | 6 months ago | Yes that's one thing a lot of people don't realise about those types of drugs, they are very long acting so if you keep taking them regularly they build up and you can OD yourself. I had a friend die that way on a combination of methadone and benzo type drugs, it was tragic because he was only 17 and didn't realise what he was doing to himself. I'm glad you realised what was happening before it was too late and are OK now and able to tell other people to be careful with those drugs. People think they are safe because they come from a doctor, but they are just as toxic as any illegal drug.

2. hussyinterrupted (154) | 6 months ago | You cannnot get high off of tylenol. None of these feelings you are speaking of are because of the physical effects of tylenol as there are next to NO physical effects of tylenol. The only thing you feel from a tylenol OD is excruciating pain in your sign from your liver killing itself.
You had to be abusing something else.
The pills that were in your stomach, were in your stomach because you took them all within a couple hours of having your stomach pumped. Tylenol pills dissolve within a couple of hours and it's physiologically impossible for the pills to just "sit in your stomach".
Sorry if this seems harsh but I think you need to buck up and face that you are either greatly exxagerating the "high" feelings you got from tylenol, or admit that you were actually using something much harder.

nicholejade (1611) | 6 months ago | If she is taking a bunch of Tylenol they are going to sit in her stomach as your stomach acids can't break them down. As well everyone reacts differently to different kids of pills. Take Oxycontin for example. Some people will be so out of it and some will even pass out. However there are people who it doesn't even phase them and they go on like nothing. Oxycontin doesn't do nothing for me and I can go on and pop them like candy. However my friend will literaly be passed out within 15 minutes of taking half of the pill. If she says that it would get her high maybe you should just beleive that as Tylenol gets her high whereas someone else it wouldn't.

revellanotvanella (1946) | 6 months ago | and if pills just DISSOLVE why do they pump peoples stomach?
| |
|
|
hussyinterrupted (154) | 6 months ago | nichole,
Oxycontin is a strong opiate. Yes you will get "high" from taking it. Tylenol is acetometaphine. It's basically a low grade placebo sedative. Any medical doctor will tell you that you will feel no "high" from taking even massive amounts of tylenol. The only effect you will feel is your liver killing itself as it tries to process the drug.
What I said about the drug sitting in your stomach is that you had to take massive amounts of it within a couple of hours of having your stomach pumped. The pills didn't build up in your stomach for days or weeks. It's just physiologically impossible. Whatever was pumped out of your stomach was ingested within hours of having your stoamch pumped. 6-8 hours before. Max.

revellanotvanella (1946) | 6 months ago | Ok, to you make you right I did not experience a high like you are thinking, you are correct and that was a poor choice of words on my part but I did take Tylenol over a matter of weeks everyday and eventually OD'd, they did not pump MY stomach but they did give me charcoal to drink. The Tylenol made me very sedated and when I said high what I should of said is that it totally alterated my normal state and made me into a zombie where nothing effected me in the slightest because I was totally tuned out from the drugs and that was what kept me on them until I had to go to the hospital. It felt like my brain was ready to shut down because anything that happened just seemed to repeat itself like it was trying to register what was happening but nothing really registered and it was like a had amnesia. When the cop spoke to me I could hear him talking but didn't comprehend ANYTHING

revellanotvanella (1946) | 6 months ago | by the way, how do you know so much about OXYCONTIN, did you take it?
| |
|
|
hussyinterrupted (154) | 5 months ago | How do I know so much about oxycontin? All I said about oxycontin was that it was a strong opiate and yes you will get high from it. I don't know this because I have taken it, I've never taken it. I know this because I am fairly educated. That oxycontin is an opiate, is not rocket science. The fact that it is a controlled substance would also provide some clues as to it's strength.
But on top of the common sense factor, I have a degree in biopsychology so I understand drugs and their effects (or lack thereof) on the human body very well.

I'm no dummy, so get over yourself. If the science of narcotics like oxycontin "is not rocket science" why did you feel the need to state "I know this because I am fairly educated", you studied Pharmapsychology but are 'fairly educated' which is it? Tylenol is a drug HOWEVER you want to put it I know the way my body reacted to the drug and don't need your booksmarts to tell me otherwise--book smarts come down to 'guinea pig' anyway..

3. nicholejade (1611) | 6 months ago | You are very lucky to be alive after that. I really do feel for you and glad that you are better and you are wiser to what happened to you. Some people it wouldn't phase them and they would just continue on and eventually it would get the better of them. I did have something like that. I have been taking painkillers and not over the counter they are all perscription pills for over the last 3 years. I got to the point that I was taking them everyday and getting addicted to them. But they kepted on writing them off like candy. I was a complete mess and yes I was a zombie just like you. I just wasn't there most of the time. I did cut back and whene myself off them and only take them now if I really need them.

revellanotvanella (1946) | 6 months ago | It's strange because my mother-in-law is addicted to prescription drugs, I swear she has 50 different bottles and she can get whatever she wants from her doctor even gets things for friends. I have said something to her how bad it is but she just smiles and says her back pain is too much for her but she has a pill for everything! Nobody in the family says anything and I think its strange but if you think about it its pretty common place.

|
|
nicholejade (1611) | 6 months ago | If thats the case I would be looking for another doctor. A doctor shouldn't be writing all those perscriptions. It's just not heard of. However if something does happen to your mother in law and forgive me for saying this I am sure that doctor would be under the microscope with a very fine tooth comb after seeing what is all in her system. As for the getting for her friends she really shouldn't be doing that. You never know what is wrong with that person and if they are going to abuse it.

| 4. Tallygirl09 (41) | 6 months ago | It's amazing how common it is, many folks don't even think about it much since they are over the counter drugs. They are still drugs that can drastically effect your body, mind and spirit. I am glad that they were able to pull you back from any damage that might have been done. My dad drank way too much growing up and now as an adult I stop at 2 drinks over a long long evening. Once burned, twice shy. I think that in part dr's need to be more careful in prescribing drugs since some patients shop for dr's and have multiple dr's writing multiple scripts. If national healthcare does become a reality then maybe the system will be able to help folks better before they get in trouble. Anna Nicole and Michael are two famous individuals who lived under the limelight and yet I am sure there are folks in all our neighborhoods who are doing the same thing, using the excuse that they are under pressure and need some help. When did it become okay not to take responsiblity for our actions and to examine our lives for improvement.

| Tallygirl09 (41) | 6 months ago | I find that so many of the problems have to do with folks trying to keep up with the jones. Parents most both work now and they work longer hours so the kids don't have as much time with them to learn and grow. Parents feel overwhelmed and when they do have time to relax sometimes they just want to sleep in or have some zen time rather than put the kids first. I was lucky enough to grow up with a Stay at home Mom and I think that made a huge difference to me and my siblings. And yet now adays many Stay at Home and be the Home Base Commander, Moms are made to feel like they are not contributing enough if that is the choice they made with their partner. I think that the crux of the problem isn't technology but the need that some folks have to outdo others when in fact they are good enough just being themselves.

revellanotvanella (1946) | 6 months ago | So right! I am a stay at home mom and when I mention it to friends they look at me like Im crazy and I feel guilty for bringing to my friends who are single moms but I feel like that some times because their father is a steady workaholic, I don't think it should be a competition. I want to be the one teaching my children values and leading them to understand life not handing the responsibility to others so if I have the chance to do it I will take it because its so rare these days but in the 50s this was commonplace, its confusing. Even if I work I will not make but pennies and its not worth giving half my paycheck to income tax or whatever else taxes they make up so my children can't see mommy, I will fight for that right.

| Tallygirl09 (41) | 6 months ago | I think that Parents need to be proactive in their kids lives and who better to do that then someone who had the time to focus on their kids - Stay at home Mom's mostly! Kids can be secretive when things aren't going right and if one is tired and worn out from trying to "succeed" then they might not notice until there is a life crisis. Like the Mylotter who went overboard with Tylenol. He didn't plan it, was overwhelmed at school and such and basically slid into it. Not saying that his parents weren't envolved or trying to find out any issues. It's just that if one is going to be a parent, then one is making a sacrifice for the benefit of another, just like a Mama Bear in the Wild will die for her young. They come first. So many folks get all tied up in their own thing that they don't pay attention to what's going on around them unless it is dramatic enough to break thru. I think that's also why there are so many divorces, one has to take the commitment to Marriage and Kids as above all else. I think it's sad that so many people fall by the wayside with drugs because they don't feel like they matter to anyone and then they lose themselves. Many times cheating in marriages and relationships starts out that way. I'm an Aunt and my nephew came to me first about huffing paint cause it was the in thing at school. My response was to listen, ask what he thought about it, had he tried it, the dangers, etc. After listening and learning that he hadn't yet but was tempted cause kids said it was just fun, no big deal. I told him that he needed to talk to his Dad and Mom about it and that I'd help him if he wanted me to. As it worked out, he brought it up on his own at bedtime and his Mom reviewed again the dangers as I had. That seemed to be the answer he needed and he's 17 now and has never huffed that we know of. And he still trusts me to look out for him and keep some secrets that are safe to keep. Like his Latest Crush!
