2. mrakobesie (754) | 5 months ago | Actually fruits are not much of a problem for diabetics as it has very small amounts of glucose, it has other natural sweeteners to keep it tasting sweet. plus fruits have fiber, which is very good for diabetics. If you want to have something that will help your friend with diabetes, you might want to gad a dish made from buckwheat, it has inulin in it, a plant insulin. also might want to add flax seeds to the dishes as it helps repair pancreas therefore helps diabetes.

3. chaime (900) | 5 months ago | HI, if you friend has controlled diabetes, he can generally eating anything the trick is in moderation. I mean he cannot pig out or stuff like that.. he can eat a little portion of everything, even sweets. Having diabetes doesn't mean that they are not allowed to eat sweets or stuff like that, it just means that they have to control their food intake. So I think you can prepare mostly any fruit, apple or banana, orange or grapes, it's just important to note that he can only eat a little bit of each. Hope this helps.

5. iamsolucky (1178) | 5 months ago | Any kind of fruits is good, the only problem is control. I think its the work of the diabetic person to control it and not you. Give her/him something she can enjoy and not thinking of negative effects instead. Tell her to take care of self though because diabetis is one of the lifestyle diseases. I suggest you can prepare variety of foods so she wont stick to one food only. happy mylotting and smile always!

7. Uroborus (791) | 5 months ago | Your doctor is the best person to help you answer this question. In general you can have high fibre fruits such as apple. You should also avoid dried fruits and fruit juices, since the have a high sugar content.
You need to look up what is called a glycemic index. This is a chart that rates all food based on what effect they have on blood sugar. A glycemic index below 55 is low, and is considered good for diabetics. Medium is any food that has an index between 55 and 69, and above 69 is high. Diabetics should avoid foods with a high glycemic index rating. In addition to apples, some fruits with a low glycemic index are grapes, oranges, grapefruit, peaches, plums. A high glycemic index fruit is watermelon.

10. Foxxee (2625) | 5 months ago | A really good friend of mine is also diabetic & a few family members.
You could get some raw veggies, like grape tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, broccoli crowns & some cauliflower. For dip you could get some light salad dressing. I also know someone who is diabetic that actually uses nonfat yogurt for dip.
You can also get some black bean salsa & spread that over some eggplants. These are nice for little party snacks. It's diabetic approved.
You can also make a fruit smoothie by using half a chopped banana, 3/4 cup nonfat yogurt & a non-nutritive sweetener & blend until smooth. This is also good for a diabetic. You can also add grapes, but red seedless grapes are better for a diabetic..
Apples are okay for a diabetic & make sure you leave the skin of the apple on because it's healthier that way.
Low fat string cheese is also a good snack for a diabetic.
Keep in mind that sugar-free stuff is ok for diabetics & there are so many sugar-free & low-fat snacks.
You can also search the web, maybe google "healthy snacks, eating for a diabetic" for better choices.
Good luck!
