There are two clear factions groups within the UK when it comes to the war on the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Those that say pull out and those that say it forms a neccessary evil.

8 UK soldiers died over the weekend. 3 of them 18 years of age.

Can you argue for this war? Would our money be better spent shoring up our defences within the borders of the UK so that they cannot get in to commit these acts of terrorism?

What do you think as a pakistani, american, indian or a neutral?

I am not sure how I feel about this war as I know that we need to protect our citizens and I know that Bin Laden is out there somewhere, but I really am not sure that we should have our children being killed daily to fight for another country.

it is extremely difficult to make a discission.

9/11 made us all angry.

sometimes i wonder that with all the technology we have we could not fight this war a different way, a more subtle way.

As an American, I think we went in for the wrong reasons. But now that we are there, I don't think we should just pull out and leave them in a worse condition than they were before we went in. It is truly sad every time a soldier dies, but remember that these brave young people volunteered their lives to defend their countries, and honestly that is an honor we could never repay.

Fortunately it appears we are making some head way in Iraq and beginning to pull out. Let's pray that the same happens soon in Afghanistan as well.

i agree with your sentiment..but sadly i have to say i would not be upset if we withdrew.

ALL the forces.

i would be surprised if we could not operate this differently.

why do we send troops in to desert rock full of caves?

why not blanket bomb the area first?

or is that to expensive? bring back napalm if it saves some lives among the allies and kills some terrorists at the same time.

I don't know about Afghanistan, but I have heard in Iraq that we have used napalm but it is called "the new" napalm, it is a "napalm like" liquid, so same thing, different name....I don't know how I feel about it being used, I think it is a very dangerous substance that should only ever be used when there is absolute certainty that no children or other innocents get burned by it.

I have always thought that the war was not well planned at all, and that is putting it mildly and politely in my opinion. We (U.S.A) got into it and focused on Iraq instead of focusing on the people who actually attacked us....I think that it was great that we got Saddam out of there, but still was not what our main objective should have been, yes we got Saddam, but what, almost 8 years later and we still don't have Bin Laden. I think you are right that in your country, focusing on defense is I think the best decision, these middle eastern countries hate and terrorism is based on religion, there have been atrocities throughout history because of religion, these people are not going to change their beliefs overnight or anytime soon, so going in and attacking them only stirs the pot. If an attack gets through, then of course retaliation is a must, but I think the sports saying that "the best offense is a great defense" applies to county security and politics as well.

yeah, the collapse of sadam is not a result in the war against terrorism which is focused more on factions which have no borders.

on that front we have very little to cheer about.

time for a major scalp.

This was a nessesary war for us. We (the united states) didn't start this one, it was brought right on to our soil. Delivered to us personaly. We were out right attacked and massively. It was the same as having several ICBMs land right in two of our major cities (minus the nukes). In one hour, any of our children WERE murdered needlesly. Brutaly and unapologeticly murdered. If you ask me, we didn't respond hard enough. If it were not for the millions of decent, innocent people living in Afghanistan, we should have just leveled the country and created a giant municpal parking lot for Pakistan and Iran.
As to your country's involvment. That is ultimately for the people of your country to decide. Most of us here in the U.S. are far more apreciating of the sacrifice your country has made in helping us out there than you can begin to imagine. Your soldiers have died along side of our's and your falimies have made the ultimate sacrifice. We can never begin to express our sentiments for this.
