You should never have to apologize for your opinion. I can once in awhile come off as being rude with my opinion, personally, and then I will go back and apologize about how I expressed myself. There is usually a more matter of fact way than to make fun of somebody or whatever. But I can have a knee jerk reaction and then regret how I expressed myself.

a person responded to my moron discussion in a rude way just because he didn't agree, if i'd done something similar i would have definately apologised for the mannner in which i said what i said. i never criticise opinion or beliefs and i definately apologise if someone feels that i've disagreed in a rude way.

Sometimes I forget how old I am! Yes, it's a book. Bel Kaufman was the author. If you were born in '67, then I think it came out about the same year that you did. It's about the trials and tribulations of a new young teacher in New York. There's sad along with funny. There was also a movie, but it was nowhere NEAR as good as the book. I highly recommend it, it's a gem.

We had a beautiful 'tiff' which I knew would end well and it did and he publicly apologised After that we even put our heads together and 'researched' for a while on the same thing together

Online it's much harder of course, than in person, so I think a lot longer these days before I start typing. I feel more comfortable trying to work it out than just walking away. A lot of people don't care if they might have hurt some stranger online, but words can leave deep impact on sensitive souls.

That is so true and especially when a user does not have English as their first language. I bear that in mind too (having moved to Italy years ago and not knowing a word of Italian at the time I can remember what it felt like). Using one word instead of another in a post on here can have terrific consequences if it is misunderstood

I notice that when people have English as a second language they can quite often come off as abrupt. I can't imagine how hard it must be to get subtleties in another language. It would also be a really cool excuse haha

Some of us apologize when we are sorry and don't have to be "caught." People can be genuine, you know.
