Cat with litter tray issues!

He was already sterilised when he came to us, he has had all his injections and everything, but as he came from Cats Protection they take him to their vet. I used to use the same vet with 2 previous cats, but both died young, one while he was in their care, which doesn't make me very confident about their efficiency.

This is the first completely new advice I have had, thank you so much, is there any vegan cat food available or do I need to make it myself? How would I prepare it?
I was wondering if it could be anything to do with the type of cat he is too, he is mostly moggy but you can see from his shape he's got a bit of Siamese or Oriental in there, do they have a different diet at all?

thx:) i found all this information while trying to help one of my cats, they are from a wild too, got into human hands and were abused. when my boyfriend rescued them they weren't doing too well. one of them had problems with digestion, so we had to find a way to fix it. they seem to do really well eating raw food, but it took us some time to get them to this point.
there is both ready made food, dry and canned, and you can cook it. ready made one, look for Evolution Diet canned food. dry, there is Hoana and Evolution Diet. If you want to cook it yourself, then there will be a list of foods you can make included with the supplement. whatever diet you will chose for your cat, make sure he gets plenty of raw food too. there was a research done that showed that eating only cooked food can cause many diseases in cats, even cancer. Also make sure and vegan food you will get will have taurine and vitamin A, these are 2 things that cats can't get from plants. it might be difficult for a cat to get used to vegan food, though in some cases they eat it with great pleasure. they usually have easier time eating raw food, especially wild cats. so see what works better for him.
he is different from regular domestic cats only because he isn't used to the food and environment at human houses. the chances are that he has not only health problems but is also having hard time adjusting. From what i saw, the way cats usually treat their health problems in the wild is by eating grass. if you can get some organic soil and wheat, you can grow it very fast, in a few days you can already have some fresh natural medicine for him:) avoid chemicals in the soil though, they could be very dangerous for him and cause more problems.

I've copied and pasted all this into a wordpad document so I can find it again easily. I'm at home ill right night now next week I'll get out and have a look for new food for him. I'm surprised Cats Protection didn't give me any information this useful to be honest, they're supposed to be experts!

vegan food only found sold on line, it will take a few days to get it delivered. try giving him raw organic till it gets there:)
Honestly, i don't know if people who work with animals are always professionals, sometimes they get volunteers, and volunteers usually don't know much:(
oh, forgot to tell you, when my cat had this problem, this is exactly what we did: he couldn't digest veggies, so he started by eating only meat. we added papaya extract and psyllium husks fiber to the meat. papaya helped regulate the digestive tract and fiber prevented constipation that cats get if they only eat meat. once he got better, we got hm wheat grass and started adding other foods to his diet.
But i don't know what exactly your cat has problem digesting, other then fish. but that's basically the concept, supplement till his digestion gets better:)

Then he might just need time to adjust to a new situation, a new diet etc. It's always a good idea to seek a second opinion from another vet if you're worried though. My only advice is to keep his food consistent, don't try changing it up too often, and make sure his bowls are clean and he has fresh water every day. Make sure his litter box is always clean and don't use litters with too much fragrance. Also don't keep his food close to the litter box. Cats are a lot like people in the way they react to stress so this very well could be just that. I hope you solve your problem!
