Is it legal for a husband to open a wife's mail without her permission? |
|
I don t know how is in your country, but here is not legal to open somebody e mail if don t have his agreement, and this must to be write, to prove that somebody is agree to let other to open his e mail. But do you think that a wife or a husband to have acces his mate e mail? What do you think? Is moral or not?

2. caragh2608 (1022) | 6 months ago | I have access to my partner's email. He doesn't look at mine, but mine is mostly work-related or junk mail so it doesn't interest him anyway! I use his to access 'yahoo! groups' as I don't have a yahoo account. I don't see a problem with looking at each other's email if you have no secrets

Palmerhusky (735) | 6 months ago | I believe your correct on this. I remember living with my parents and my mother once opened my mail and i went off...not disrespectfully...on her. when she asked me what the problem was i told her that even if it has OUR address on it if it has MY name on it and she opens it she just committed a felony. She didn't know so i forgave her and it never happened again but still...the federal government is dang strict about it...most people don't even realize the ramifications of opening a piece of mail not addressed to them specifically.

6. ds6413 (1893) | 6 months ago | I believe it is not legal to open another email with out permission.Definaterly not moral. Do people consider right to privacy when wanting to PEEK in their partners email?I hear all the time if there is nothing to hide then you should let your partner open it but I think that is just wrong to cave into this "peer pressure" or harrassment if I don't agree to let my b/f have free access to my email.I had a life outside prior to my relationship with my b/f and I know he also had a life prior to me.This is my feeling on "permission", and I am not a child that needs to be policed and watched every waking hour by my partner or by someone of his choosing.

7. astonysh (1824) | 6 months ago | I do not think that it is morally acceptable, but I would not be certain of the legal situation.
That said, if you do not let your spouse have your email password, there should not be a problem limiting access. The argument that would follow if you refused to give him/her this though would be worth hearing!
I already have my wife's id & password, but as most of her friends write in her native language, which I cannot understand, she has nothing to fear!

8. tomjoad (392) | 6 months ago | hi icesmile! i believe that if we speak of legality, each individual has an innate right to privacy and confidentiality. that is well written in the constitution. and i believe that law is universal.
even if you are legally bound in marriage to one another, you are still bound to that law. you have to respect each others privacy. reading your spouses post mail when addressed to him should initially be done by him. reading his emails should be primarily done by him. if violate that right and he sues you in court, you could be legally liable. however, there also what we call mutual agreement. if your husband/wife gives you permission to open his/her mails, then by all means you can do that. if she gave you his/her username and password to his email address, then that is an implied permission that you can read all the contents on his email.

9. jugsjugs (3199) | 6 months ago | There are laws to say that people can noot open other people post that they have, but to be honest i have never heard of anyone saying that anyone has been taken to court for opening another persons mail.I think that if you have your own email address it should only be that person to open their own emails and no one else should do it.Happy Mylotting.
